Title: Season Ticket 2009/10
Post by: 4D on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 23:22:05
Today I booked the same two seats (no, not just for me). Don't care what division we are in (hopefully the same one). Just has to be done.  :playball:

Fair play to you. Wish I had the cash to (a) buy a ST and (b) travel back for every game. I'll be doing the same as this year - going to every game I can while I'm at home and going to the away days which are easy to get to. If we stay up there should be quite a few nice away days for me next season!

Do you want an internet Back Pat or something? Perhaps if our fans were a little more demanding and a little less inclined to blind following we wouldn't have been so shit for so long.

When do renewed ST seats go on 'general sale'?

I want to see if I can move one of our seats, since it is my lads free ST then I can wait until deadline day for his if needs be.

I went in about half 11 yesterday for 3 Peterborough tickets and my season ticket and it was packed.

I don't have another student card as I'm not at college or uni anymore - I work full time and study on top for professional exams. My institution is affiliated with the NUS though so I can legitimately get a card through through them. Just a case of sending off the form and proof of student membership with the ICAEW and then waiting to get the card back. I better try and sort it out this week or I'll run out of time!

just got mine renewed, nice and swift.  They've pushed out 1000 ish in the past 2 days and reckon they are over 2000 in total today, which is good news.  They seem quite confident of getting close to 3000 by the end of the week.  Given the next deadline still offers decent priced options then I think they won't drop as many season ticket holders as we may have feared, which probably suggest the pricing and deals were ok.  I suppose Saturdays result helped.

I still don't know why they had to fuck about with the prices and payment options. If they had left it alone I reckon they'd of got the same or possibly more for next season, keeping fans and gradually building the numbers in the long term is far more important than making a few extra quid.

They had to "fuck about" with the payment options because last season loads of people decided that the 2nd installment was not in fact a second installment but some kind of optional renewal clause they could choose to exercise or not depending on their view of the team/manager/price of hot dogs, leaving the club with the choice of either taking a massive hit on the budget or suing their own fans.

I'm not convinced they lost that much money and you could argue they didn't lose anything, people who didn't pay didn't get the tickets and the payment was loaded on the first half. Unless they get at least 4,500 season tickets next season, they'll have actually lost money with by fucking about.

Besides that isn't the only thing they changed. To get the best price you have to pay a lot earlier (we're talking months) and you have to pay in full, which a lot of people can't do. They could have offered full season tickets for the same price up until the season starts and half season tickets at a slightly higher price. Problem solved.

If I bought my season ticket for next season on the same day my price would have gone up from £269 to £399, which is completely taking the piss. As it happens I've renewed it already so its only gone up £10 but that's not the point. We should be looking to build the season ticket base and this is a step backwards.

Does anyone know how many people didn't pay their second instalment ?

People who didn't pay, didn't get the tickets, no, and the club didn't get the revenue that they'd budgeted for on the back of the ticket sales did they ?

You could get a payment option this year which would be £30 more expensive than the cheapest option, ie the same as buying it before the end of May rather than April, and have 10 regular payments (I think it was 10)

You clearly didn't buy your season ticket until late on last year. There's been a cheaper 'early bird' price for a number of years

Given the season we've just had, it's always going to be a tough task to increase season ticket numbers. Let's not forget we were given significant incentives to reach the 6000 number which didn't happen, so collectively we can't really expect the same generosity.

When did the 6,000 / £269 offer end last year? I thought it was pretty close to the start of the season.

Was there a cheaper option than that for people renewing?

Just over 2000 @ 12.45pm yesterday.  We've had seasons in the past 20 years where that would be the most we could shift, even when our average gate was over 8000.

Renewed my 3 this morning.  Was a little hacked off that I was unable to get my Son a junior ticket as he is 16 on the 16th June.  The cut off date is 1st August.  His price changes from £40 to £189.00.

Apparently we sold 1000 monday, 1000 tuesday and close to 1000 yesterday, with queues expected all day today until 8pm this evening.  I got in early this morning and renewed and the queues started appearing behind me, good sign I would say.

I would say we are looking at hitting at least 5000 no problem.

Bearing in mind the response they have had so far I think it maybe wise to throw out another milestone promotion again like last year.  It might make the odd one or two sit up and take note.

Don't bother going now, they've just extended the deadline to Tuesday 5th May 2009.

From Official site.

Swindon Town FC have announced that the Early Bird Season Ticket deadline has been extended until Tuesday 5th May 2009.

The decision to extend the Early Bird Season Ticket window has been taken for a number of reasons:

- Last Saturday's win against Bristol Rovers secured the club's position in League One for the 2009/10 season. Until League One status was secured, a great many fans were deliberating over whether or not to renew their Season Ticket and so this past week the STFC Box Office has been deluged by demand for renewals, be it walk-ups, phone ups or postal requests. The STFC Box Office has therefore requested a few extra days to process all applications and allow a little more time to manage the walk-up demand.

- Compounding the problem has been the unprecedented telephone demand for Peterborough United tickets for this Saturday's fixture. The demand is not from Swindon fans but from Peterborough fans who have been unable to secure tickets from Peterborough United due to the sell-out at London Road. STFC has been allocated 2,000 tickets for Saturday and fans were hopeful of obtaining tickets via the STFC Box Office. Due to the demand, the STFC Box Office telephone lines have been very busy and most probably some fans wishing to renew via telephone have been frustrated in their efforts.

The Early Bird Season Ticket deadline will close at 5pm on Tuesday 5th May 2009.

All Season Tickets for both existing and new Season Ticket Holders will carry the £30 premium but there exists the opportunity to pay via the 10 month instalment plan.

Good to see the extension. Selling 3,000 at this stage is fantastic. But let's bear in mind we currently have 5,200 ST holders and the chances are that those will be renewing will be doing so before May 5th. I can't see too many more sales after that. I reckon we'll get to 4,000.

In fairness IOB, we've got 5200 ST holders, LESS those who didn't pay their second instalment.

True. So 4,000 is probably a decent shout. And would be good as well considering we never used to get anywhere near that mark.

Queue was inside the door when I got there, apparently not as busy as previous days. The guy behind the desk said that they expected to be busiest today so was surprised.... He obvoiusly at that point did not know of the extention

Anyone know if you can renew a student ticket by phone then present NUS card on collection?

I'm lazy and this would be my preferred method.

I only applied for my NUS this week, i just called the box office and they say i can renew before cut off and show them the card when i collect...

More in hope than expectation, but after noises being made about quick signings, has the deadline been extended because there is a biggie being announced pre 5th, to pull in  a few more ST's?

I'm probably being a tad controvercial here but anyone who waits to buy a season ticket on the back of a signing deserves to apy an extra £30

Agree. We're not going to sign anyone good enough or big name enough to make people suddenly decide to buy an ST.

I wondered about that as well. I'm guessing it was a typo and should have said "renewals after the new deadline", as the 30th April deadline only applies to renewals.

Nope its referring to the 10 installment credit agreement and the £30 extra that this works out at.

It wouldn't surprise me if they extend the Early Bird Plus deadline from the end of May. I can't see many people wanting to pay the full £399, but having that price there must act as an extra incentive for people to go for it - thinking about saving £90 rather than paying £309 to watch shit football for a year.

I will be impressed if we hit 4,000 by the end of next week, I never thought that would happen. Add on some decent signings and extending the next deadline, maybe we'll actually top last seasons total.

I wonder if people's view and confidence in the club is starting to grow and resulting in new season ticket sales. The club is stable, we've got a half decent manager (that people have heard of) and the summer team re-building is getting plenty of press.

But that would surely suggest we have a decent amount of reasonable, level-headed fans who can see beyond next saturday...evidence would suggest otherwise! :D

I renewed mine today, and moved seats.

There was a guy in the queue in front of me who seemed surprised that his ST wasn't a renewal when he hadn't paid his 2nd installment.

thats ace and just sums some of our fans up perfectly.

When I went in there was a guy trying to renew a family season ticket, however his two kids now don't qualify under the cheaper rates. His renewal was therefore going to cost him around £970 instead of £599. Fair play to the bloke though, he still paid it.
