Something tells me you had this quote prepared for this moment So69.
Might've done !! The quote by Reg reminded me of five years ago, when it was the same 1-1 scoreline going into the final test against SA, after SA scored 480, a work colleague (also a Town fan) said the England had no chance, whilst I said England did but they needed to score 600+. He said that if England won, he'll buy a STFC season ticket for me for the following season. Over the weekend, England did score 600+, whit Tresco getting 200+, then SA were about 150-5 come Sunday Evening. Monday morning, back at work, their were other work colleagues saying to him about praying for rain, etc. We won the test later on in the afternoon, but for the season ticket, I'm still waiting !!!

Ponting sounded very dignified in defeat on tms just now, fair play to him.

Nah Ponting will be captain until he retires.
ponting isn't that highly rated as a captain in oz (at least that's the impression i get listening to maxwell and chappell on tms), i can see him resigning the captaincy. awesome win. love it \o/

Lets not forget Montys stand with Anderson in the first test...10 overs that was to hold out and going 1 down that early couldve buggered us....great all round team work all the series.

That was the moment it all swung into our favour. Headingley aside we never really looked back.

Can we not get carried away after this. No open top buses, no Honours, just focus on building up from this series. South Africa is going to be very tough, and i'm not expecting us to win, But if we get whitewashed this will all mean nothing.

Piss off with your perspective until tomorrow at least eh? 'Ian Thorpe! Cathy Freeman ! Sir Don Bradman! John Howard! Hary Kewell! Russel Crowe! Crocodile Dundee! Kylie Minogue- can you hear me, Kylie Minogue! Your boys took one hell of a beating! Your boys took one hell of a beating!'

In fairness, I think the last Ashes win was celebrated so much was because we hadn't won it for years.

I think it's pretty good that we have 7 ODIs and a few T20 games coming up in a matter of 2 weeks time. That should mean we are back down to business pretty soon so little time to party.

Too right. In truth, we kind of expect to beat them at home these days. [Ironic smiley thing.]

£83 if I wanted to watch the ODI vs. Australia at Chester-le-Street (with a guest) on September 20.
It's a lot of dosh which I can't justify, especially with the North East weather!
