Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, 13:44:26
So if Bob Holt announced as of next season, the Stratton Bank would be open to us lot at a bargain ten pound a match would you be interested?

(If we are still in this God forsaken league)

That's the best thing about it my little friend, sure in Winter you get a little wet and chilly, but in August, September, October, March, April and a little bit of May, it's all good.   Just Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb to survive.

Granted it would be great in the summer but not sure my dodgy knees could hack getting cold and wet.  Cold is fine it is just the wet bit i don't fancy.  Reminds too much of long trips to stockport on a cold tuesday night and getting beat!  :(   mind you if it returned to how it was during the premiership then that would be wicked!

If the team could play to their potential week in, week out, and the prices were dirt cheap, i would consider it.

I started the open the bank campaign last year when the town end was selling out and i was forced to spend 21 pound to sit in the south stand. The club responded but there were only a few takers so they stopped it after one match.

I don't see why we shouldn't be able to use half of the bank and have a bit of segegration between us and any away fans. They do this all over the country with portsmouth being the most similar that springs to mind.

We could enter through the old turnstyles (that were used for the old away fans terrace bit) and there must be some scope to have a serving hatch for food from the South Stand.

That could also be used for when away fans sell out the bank and the club can make more money by giving the fans on the bank two food hatches.

Shouldn't cost much to do.

what y'all think?

I'm not sure that the turnstiles in Shrivenham Road are still there, certainly the gates and blockwork there are a bit of a mess.

Not sure either where you'd put the hatch, as the Study Centre is in that corner of the Nationwide.

I suppose their argument for not opening the Bank and say charging a tenner is that you don't get enough taking it up to justify stewards.
