Bristol City midfielder Grant Smith has today joined the Bescot revolution, the midfielder joins on loan and adds presence to a previously small midfield.

The midfielder joined Bristol City in the summer of 2005 from Swindon Town. At Swindon Grant Smith made his name as a goal scoring midfielder after notching 10 goals in 50 games (including 11 substitute appearences). This was the only spell of his career that they player has enjoyed regular first team football.

The 25 year old is now joining his 8th club ed his career with Livingston. He joined Clydebank after only 3 games. He then moved south of the boarder joining Halifax Town. Then Sheffield United, Plymouth Argle, Swindon Town and Bristol City being his destinations.

Smith is 6 foot 1 and 12 stone so this gives Walsall height and presence, qualities that our midfield has been lacking in recent seasons. He is comfortable on the wing or in a central role so he also offers flexability.

Smith joins Mads Timm and Kevin James as loan defenders signed in the last week.
