Dell, only thing I can find was this

Quote
Cox was unable to feature in Saturday's draw against Northampton due to a late hitch in the transfer paperwork.

The Football League refused to sanction a clause entered in the contract that would have seen former club Reading receive a percentage if Cox was loaned out for a fee.

The clause has been removed and Cox is set to play for the reserves against a Bristol City second string at Wanborough this afternoon (2pm).

I heard on Saturday that Cox is off to Sheff Utd for £1 million in January. Probably bullshit but I just thought I'd let you know.

What does that have to do with whether the board accept a bid for cox though?

I can't quite work out how our original poster can argue that selling Coxy in the transfer window would get us less money than selling him in the summer.

Now, from everything I've seen it's generally accepted that clubs pay through the nose for players in the window, and obviously in January he'll have longer left on his contract than in the summer.

Which suggests that his arguement might be bollocks.

I'd suggest that Cox will not get sold in Jan unless a totally ourrageous offer is made, Fitton is not going to sell his side's top scorer while the team are fighting relegation for a few quid, that would be suicide as we haven't got anyone at the club currently that could step in and guarntee goals.

Remember these day's we do not have to sell so it will take a really high offer as he is not out of contract and has I think 2 years left after this, and I don't think he will want to leave before the end of the season when he has a full seaaon under his belt with his reputation that bit higher (especially if he get's 25 goals)

You can turn that round to be positive quite easily - I'd be pretty happy to see half the gutless squad leave in january

Thing is sie lets put the manager issue asside...if we can turn our home form around even 50% and our away form continus we will fly up the league....if we can win 3 matches on the trot we will be on the verge of the playoffs...but then again have you got a light!

The point I was trying to make yesterday, in answer to Tails, was that if say over the next 10 games we win 4 draw 4 and lost a couple, which would represent decent form, the 25 points after 21 games would get us up to about 15th/16th, looking at average seasons at that point.

Anything less that such an up turn in form could see us adrift..

As i said Reg 2 home wins in 4 days would have us going to Walsall next tuesday with good vibes, its a big  7 days and i feel this time next week we will know if MM is going to last the season...2 home defeats i dont think he will be manager even v Walsall...only time will tell but no manager can survive losing 7 at home on the bounce surely.
