I'll say it again, as I've said it so many times already since about January.

Get him signed up for another 3 years right NOW.

Spot on. We'd still have billy now if we sat down with players and actually offerd contracts, instead of when they run out.

If we want him to extend, we need to get the wallet out. Otherwise he'll run down the contract and move for free. Same goes for Dougie. And its for the same reason that 400k for Greer is good business.

How do we know we're not already is discussions. Neither Fitton or Wilson are mugs, so I have no doubt there are contracts in the pipeline.

I wonder as well what effect it has on a player if we do or don't offer a contract. If we offer one and they turn it down before the season starts does that make it likely the player loses interest? What about if we offer Cuthbert a deal, but not to others what affect does that have on team morale?

Ive heard he's now our second most valuable player.

So no stupid bids please. Some of the stuff their fans said about Cox was unbelievable. Saying we should be grateful to get 200k, he went for 1.8million.

Just because players don't sign extended contracts doesn't mean to say they were never offered.

I'm sure its a balancing act for the board. If we want a player to tie himself down for longer then we'll have to offer him more money etc etc.

Plus at the end of the day its up to the player if he signs or not.

out of all our squad i think cuthbert is the one who could easily step up a level.others are probably up to it too but he is without doubt.
apart from austin(as goal scorers always cost more)he is our prize asset.

Billy Paynter.

BP was offered a deal which would have made him the highest player at the club.
