I got a text from a manager t'other day asking if I had a car yet as they wanted to book me on some jobs.

Seems these 'jobs' are actually another 6 month secondment, this time to internal audit. Unless the planner is wrong, they can go fuck themselves. Will have to look for a new job and hope I land one before next month is out as I will try and negotiate a voluntary redundancy.

I forgot to add, it's for the Cardiff office so will involve going to remote places in Wales. I can't wait.

At least John got his bonus.

What are you looking for Si? Tax accounting or management accounting?

There's a management accounting role for full/part qualified ACCA/CIMA going at our place:

Internal audit will suck the life right out of you.  It's where dull people go to become less interesting.  Fight it, Si.  Fight it.

Being an auditor is bad because you go to strange places and find mistakes made by people. Usually only encounter them once though.

Being an Internal Auditor is worse because you go to familiar places and look for mistakes made by colleagues and friends (and people hate you for it) Effectively you can only do a good job be being unpopular.

However, don't leave your job without having something to go to - there are vast quanities of unemployed part qualifieds out there as there is a general move for companies to do away with that level of resource - short sighted I know, but that seems to be the case.

Ahh. So they want to farm Si Pie out on loan to Merthyr Tydfil but he doesn't want to go because he needs to be playing regularly but at a higher level and not in Wales?

(I know no-one mentioned Merthyr, but I like the name and knew it was in Wales)

I got offered 'team leader' shifts tonight, means an extra ten whopping pence an hour more plus ten quid every 'team leader' shift i do plus a meal.  I'm actually really happy about this as it seems they will pay for me to get a personal licence which will be very useful to me as i have decided i would like to own/run a bar in the future.

They're well aware that i'll be off back out to france in nov too but are keen for me to do it in spite of that, only been there two weeks so it's really gong to piss off one of the girls who has been there for ages who wants the job, meh, look after no. 1...

People seem to be dropping like flies out here, in the last week alone I know of 5 people from forums who have announced that they have to return to their home country. Sometimes they even have to leave a family behind, something which scares the shite out of me.

I've just started in a new job myself though which looks promising and hopefully my misses can keep our heads above water anyway.
