---------------------------------------Gk

Gurney-------------O'Hanlon------------Exp centre back----------Nicholas

Shakes-------------Wise/Smith-----------Attacking Mid-------------Brown

----------------------Peacock--------------Cureton type player

I think Ifil will come good but would rather have someone with experience at the back. David Stroud will come good and will push Brown for a place. A 20 goal a season striker is a must and thats where i would like Mr Power to stump some cash up for.

Your thoughts?

We need someone better than Shakes for a start. I have some faith that he will improve given time, but he should be more of a squad player in my opinion with a 1st team right winger brought in.

Roberts (if dry) can fill the 2nd attacking position. Failing that I'd rather have someone properly quick and non-hobbit like to play up from with the ledgendary peconator.

So we need at a mimumim
2 x GK
1 x CB
1 x LB (as nicho is the only one we have)
1 x CM
1x RM
1 x Quick striker

I personally think we need better quality than Nicho and Shakes. Brown also needs to prove he is up for it.

Also need cover/competition for a few places. Of course a fully fit and sober Roberts could do a job.

edit: Pie pretty much said it, damn 'submit' procrastination on my part.

I'm not sure pie about having another tall striker. Peacock is decent in the air so can win many a flick on.

Would love to see him and roberts gell again like we know they have in the past.

Does anyone know how Roberts is doing on the staying dry front??

Jack Smith will be first choice left-back over Nicho.

Smith was one of our better players last season IMO. I don't understand why so many people don't rate him

I know what you mean, but I'd like us to have a big team next season.

Tbh, A fit Roberts fits the bill, not very good in the air but quick and strong.

He was up and down I thought, trouble was the difference between a good J Smith performance was massive.

His good perfoances showed a lot of promise though in my opinion.

much better at right back also.

Isn't Jack Smith more of a right-back?  I don't think he is wholly comfortable at left back.  I do rate him.

For me we need:

GK - New Signing
RB - Gurney/Smith
LB - Nicholas/New Signing
CB - O'Hanlon
CB - New Signing/Ifil
RW - New Signing/Shakes
LW - New Signing/Brown
DM - Gurney/Smith/Wise
MC - New Signing/New Signing
FC - Peacock
FC - New Signing

Subs:
GK - New Signing
DC - Ifil
MC - Gurney/Smith/Wise
W - Shakes/Brown
FC - Caton/Jutkiewicz

So that's two new keepers, a new centre back, a new left back, two midfielders, two widemen and a forward needed if we're serious about challenging next season...

i do hope he gets fit etc for the new season.
as Pie said a fit and strong Roberts will fill the second striker slot very nicely

The hope I cling to, is not his ability, but more the fact that he's finished if he doesn't sort out his career with us.  He's been out for a long time and had his drinking problem go public.  Who else at this level is going to take him on unless he's proved his worth since then?  So the hope is, he'll try and give his career another go, and that means putting in performances for us, whether he likes it or not.

Hmmmm I'm not sure what we need, apart from two goal keepers and an expirenced defender...oh and a right winger

Alot of those players I would have shipped out (SeanO, Nicholas, Shakes etc) but with the new boss I'm hoping he will get the best out of SeanO and Nicho, because we all know they are capable of much better than last season

Shakes is a lost cause though, wouldnt have even offered him a new deal.

Hopefully Wise also gets the best out of Christian Roberts.
