Such an odd appointment. Shit manager too.
Indeed. Sacked by Christmas.

Benitez to Bruce. Incredible downgrade.
Always been a distant admirer of Newcastle since The Entertainers in the mid 90's. I was 7 or 8 at the time and loved Shearer, Asprilla, Ginola etc. I'll be sticking money on them going down. A Championship squad performing well in excess of its capabilities due to a top class manager. That manager is gone and there's no replacement in sight for one of their better players who's just been sold.
Mike Ashley patting himself on the back for another 1up on the Newcastle fans.

Indeed.
Sacked by Christmas.
Confirmed on a three year deal (which also suggests that any takeover rubbish is dead). Assuming the wheels don't fall off spectacularly, and Bruce does have history of doing OK with crap, I cannot see him being sacked at least short term, perfect scapegoat for Ashley, won't ask too many questions, demand money or whinge in the press, plus local lad and thus will possibly get a little leeway with the fans that others would not have (avoids the cockney mafia slight that would be levelled at anyone appointed who was born south of Gateshead!) Anyway I'm off to Facebook to watch my Newcastle supporting mates lose their shit!

Think his credit on that side has been burned by former association with Sunderland so won't help him. He should probably punch a horse at the press conference, that might help a bit

I'm not big on image, but Bruce looks about as far removed from a Premier League manager as you can get. He still wears a tracksuit half the time, which does his beer belly no favours.

If I was a Newcastle fan then I would be massively underwhelmed by his appointment.
But I am not, quite the opposite in fact so it makes me laugh.

He now has a very good rep, which I don’t think many people expected to be the result when he took over. Bad news for Macclesfield. Good news for whichever club he takes over in due course.

Does he? Macc was a bit of a free hit for him and whilst he did OK I cannot envisage that many clubs rubbing their hands together on the back of 30 games and a 26% win ratio.

He did indeed, I suspect he may have gone as all he could see ahead was more of this hand to mouth existence.

You would guess he will get another chance elsewhere, not sure it will be a team any higher than L2 though, any chairman out there that want that publicity

Fair play to Campbell, He took a punt on managing Macclesfield which could have sunk his career in management before it started and he did a good job to keep them up last year.
It is his ego and everything that goes with it that will hold him back from quite a few clubs wanting him.
