Which makes the decision of letting Benson go look even more stupid, especially as we are still paying him.
No league 1 club was interested in Benson. No league 2 club was interested in Benson. Why would we want to keep Benson? We'll get another striker in.

Yep...you sound just like Jed....they are not interested because of his big wages....and for your info about 5 clubs are sniffing but dont want to pay his rather large salary.

So if we are paying it....fucking play him,its not rocket science surely to play one of your biggest earners if you have a minimum strikeforce.

Unless the cost issue isn't his weekly salary but bonuses derived from appearances and/or goals.

Benson isn't the answer IMO and I can't imagine that his exclusion since last November has been entirely due to financial reasons

Dont agree.

But lets leave it at that.

Not saying he is the full answer...just bemused how a top earner at the club, well erm isn't earning it.

Benson was always a short term option, it was obvious when we signed him, as pointed out here.

In fact, he got us 11 goals, unfortunately we haven't quite managed to move him in although he did spend a lot of last season on loan.

End product let Williams down but he was capable of streching defences.

Re Benson, crocked= no chance of getting shot, fit = always a chance someone will take him. Simple as that.

Which 5 clubs? If we need to reduce costs and if playing Benson actually increases our spend, how do you suggest we move forward? Benson is at best an impact sub. We need someone who can start and finish games. Why is it that difficult to grasp? In order to get players in, we need to get players out. The days of shit loads of bit part, high earners has gone.

I totally agree he's shite but getting rid of him with no replacement is stupid as fuck..

The ginger one speaks the troot!

Willo better off fucking off and good luck to him but to leave us with Scorey Storey and 'needs another four games before I start him Ranger' is fucking stupid.

The thread is a perfect example as to why STFC cannot afford to sign confidence players.  A good majority of our fans wait for an opportunity to get on a players back..  from that point on there is no way back..

Unless you start like Charlie Austin you are fucked, unless you happen to be £500k man JanAF, then you get given an extra half a season.

IMO, Collins and Williams were more than average strikers when they came to us.  A mixture of Manager and fan base ruined them.  Agree they both needed to move on, but the mong base, including plenty on here haven't helped.

Quick enough to complain about players and more than quick enough to moan when we have no players, or sign a accused rapist.

Personally think that Collins and  Williams were the best 2 strikers we have had here since Cox/Paynter, shame we didn't see enough of them together.

Can never understand what "fans" hope to achieve by abusing players, whether in the stands or on a forum.  Constructive criticism fair enough, "he's shit" when for half a season he was the only real player we had, is like punching yourself in the face IMO.

Williams is better with help up front to flick it on and play him in behind.
