Agree with everything contrary to 69 er regarding Risser. Risser was very good today, seems to be becoming a player. Passed well and was affective at covering the overlapping Caddis as well as breaking up play and disrupting Macc.

Cibocchi was likewise very good. Not as attacking as Kennedy, but an assured presence in the backline and defended well. Rooney was just like Richie but for the opposing wing. I liked him. Think he'll be very good when Paolo gets him fit, as he said he's not up to our standards yet.

I think if that was a better side risser would have got found out, awful touch, always falls over, very slow, average at the best of times

Risser is awful. Runs about like a headless chicken following the ball, falls over a lot, can't do anything other than win a header and play a basic pass. Out of his depth, but I guess you can't fault his effort so that makes it all ok.

Makelele made a career out of breaking up play and playing short simple passes - in no way am I comparing Risser to Makelele in terms of quality but he's put in against certain sides to do a specific job and he's been getting better by playing more games (SHOCK)

Worth noting he also won a lot of headers defending corners/throw ins.When we play the bigger built teams paolo tends to pick him and it works

Risser was one of our most effective players vs Macc and judging by most comments here this was recognised by the majority.  I'd prefer Smith in most cases but as PdC has a far greater tactical awareness, knowledge of the players and the opposition that I do, I trust that his team selection will be made for perfectly good reasons and I expect that we'll see some rotation with "horses for courses."  I'm glad that Risser seems to be settling in and proving a valuable part of the squad.

Risser had a good game on Saturday, did the simple things well, broke up the play, won a fair few headers in the middle of the park and generally worked hard. Nearly scored with a header too.

I feel sorry for Smith but I'm sure his gametime will come again with the congested fixture list. Risser has improved, fair play to him, needs to give a few more of those performances and maybe then we have a central midfield three that can be relied upon. Ferry is immense, we can't replace him.

In fairness PDC has always stated that he will work with a squad rotation system and name different sides based on the oppo's strengths. With that in mind I'm sure J Smith will be starting against Leicester and Southend. I don't think they mind missing one or two as long as promotion's achieved.

Smith may well be in the team for Saturday but don't go getting too excited because Risser will continue to be used by Paolo because he isn't shit. ;)
