Title: Italy v Spain
Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 19:22:53
Much more open game than I'd expected this, Italy are not regressing to their old selves at all.

Only had half an eye on it thus far. Spain looking more likely to take control from what I've seen. Great save a few minutes ago from Donnarumma

Donarumma has made a couple of decent saves and a couple of shocking passes. Spain definitely more likely so far, but as usual they have all the finishing ability of George RR Martin.

I expected Spain to struggle tonight but they look the more likely to score first at the moment. I've got them in the work sweepstake so this is a pleasant surprise.

Gianluca Vialli there. Forgot that guy ever existed

A low scoring answer in the Pointless former Chelsea managers round I'd imagine. Even more so for Watford, although all Watford managers not named Graham Taylor last a year or less so that's understandable.

Name the other three Italians to manage Watford - half time teaser.

Zola, and that's all I've got

Both sides players are going down very easy. I'd fancy our chances against that Spanish keeper.

I wonder if Emerson Palmieri's middle name is Lake?

Spain still the brighter side, but their chance conversion is horrible. Both these sides look good but with weaknesses as well, think the final should be competitive whichever of the four remaining teams get through.

Fucking finish. Against the run of play

Don't let Chiesa cut inside, ever.

Spain have been the better team but you have to take chances and they absolutely don't.

Think we're about to see a thirty minute masterclass in gamesmanship.

Morata on to address the finishing problem.

In a way Spain have been unlucky. only got themselves to blame though

Interesting goalkeeping by Donnarumma, or a deft finish, not sure.

Chiellini has a very oddly shaped head. Looks almost totally flat on the top

Alvaro Morata. Well bugger me. Well deserved equaliser, now fingers crossed for gruelling extra time.

Extra time, great for both the chances of the other semi finalist and the viewers.

Pedri hasn't missed a pass yet. Him and Olmo the standout players for me. Spain have impressed me, really expected Italy to just be too good.

Game on then. All to play for...

I know Spain have plenty of good players but if ever there was a situation designed for Adam Traore off the bench...

I think Spain have a goal left in this final 15. If it goes to penalties though I think Italy will pip them to the post.

Either way this is fantastic for either England or Denmark.

Good call. Imagine trying to stop that express train this late on. No thanks.

Reckon they'd being de Gea on for penalties?

Think they may have used their last sub, or maybe I misunderstood the commentary. Don't think they would anyway

Just joking based on De Gea's dreadful penalty record.

Here goes then.

Who's going to play Baggio?

Some Keeper heroics in this one.

Morata to blaze one over, a la Waddle!

Squads so large at this competition I thought the Italian celebrations were a pitch invasion!

Tough challenge for whoever makes the final. Sad for Spain, better team on the day but you just can't miss the opportunities they have throughout the tournament. Feel for Olmo especially, best player on the park for my money.

Played great but how many shots does the lad want in 90mins.

Also, italy really should have taken their chances in the first half and should really have been 2-0 up. They've pinched the luck that Spain had been riding all tournament tonight.

Pizza delivery for Olmo!

Ahh and now the often used by the BBC - the music Ludovico Einaudi to end credit the match with Divenire.

Beautiful pianist. I love much of his stuff. Nuvole Bianche is a fave.
