Agree with you.
The TE is a shadow of what it was like in 70's and 80's. In fact seating has killed it.
However when it is full it can still deliver.

When I went to Brentford, my Brentford supporting cousin said that he's always thought TE was one of the loudest home ends in the lower leagues.

He should have been in there in the late 60's, early 70's when you would have thought at times the roof was coming off!!  Sadly, there is little atmosphere in the CG these days - the choice of music and the pitchside announcer see to that - and don't mention the Rockin Robin haka!!

It's a small stand with a very low roof so the acoustics should be good.

As has been said, all seating has ruined it

Football's changed. All seater stadiums, the prawn sandwich brigade and whole families going along together have all contributed to muted atmosphere's.
It aint gonna go back to how it was so accept it for what it is i say.

Always thought shrivvy road put the town end atmosphere to shame by the way. I'm talking late 80's early 90's here. No idea what it was like in the 60's and 70's

I have never seen a prawn sandwich at a football match. And it's not that posh anyway.

Not strictly true. Peterborough's was pretty much the same size and design, and the acoustics were awful, 2000 only sounded like 50.

ok then. More sponsors at games-freebies- people who don't really support the team in vocal terms. That's what I meant as did Keane when he said it.

Sorry. I was just being facetious.

Personally I think the reason the atmosphere has died out is because the people have either died out or got old and prefer the comfort and view of the DRS/Arkells.

Tis true. I was a stalwart behind the bog wall in the TE from 68 - later migrated to the TE edge of the Shrivvy, then the SB end of the Intel and now with the doddery old cunts in the Arkells

That'd make a great town end (if we had a bit more regular support  Smiley)

Shows you can get a good crowd reaction in a large all seated stand.

Bob's Orange, compare how magnificent the 5,000 Jambos contingent were in their derby v's Hibs to the same number of Spuds at The Emirates right now.

Very similar movements only a bit earlier than '68 as I am now one of the d.o.c's in the Arkells!

Me too, but I decided the cemetery side was not for me (originally great, had a good crowd around us - but suddenly people were telling us to be quiet!) and sit in the DRS, TE side.
