'Di Canio went on to reveal an unnamed player did not show up for training during the week because of food poisoning, something which further incensed the charismatic Italian.'

He got fucked off when one of our players had a kid and rung him to tell him

"We're aware of Paolo Di Canio's comments - it's something we had to deal with [when the Italian was manager] at Swindon as well.

See for me there's a time and a place to go out for footballers. If they are doing well then so be it they can let their hair down, but if they need results the players need to know they can't do it.

PDC installs discipline, and we've seen first hand it works. End of the day he's the boss. If players don't like it they can move on.

Reading that, I imagine Gordon Taylor has two IN trays on his desk: one marked 'Di Canio' and the other marked 'Everyone else'

It may just be the few giving the majority a bad name but it's no wonder the public (not just football supporters) have formed a view that most top level professional footballers are pretentious pricks who have more money than brain cells.

I fail to understand why the FA don't seem to want to remove this image?

You don't have to read much of the comments section on that site (or elsewhere) to see that most people agree with PDC in principle here.

The problem with PDC is yes he installs discipline but the way he does it is bordering on bullying.

I agree 100% with how he speaks about modern footballers and their ways, but you can’t deny people days off and discipline them for having children/Doctors appointments etc.

Edit: The vast majority of fans including Sunderland fans have not seen the shit from him that we have, so think his ways are brilliant at the moment that's why most agree.

I hope the Sunderland players realise that they are probably not going to have any days off for about two months once pre-season starts, otherwise this could just be the start....

He instils discipline, it doesn't matter how he does it, just that he does it. People in this country are far too soft.
