How much would it cost (in fees & extra wages) to get a suitable replacement.

Double that, and that should be his price

I'd settle for a million.

Selling your best players to divisional rivals is stupid.

That's apart from the fact that we're sponsoring him

I don't understand why Brighton would want to pay for a player like Greer. That has to be plenty of other centre backs available on a freebie from a Championship club, why not spend the money you save on extra wages to get someone better?

It's one of the reasons I'm glad we've got Wilson as manager - he waits his time, does his research and gets players at the right price (ie free). Rather than just looking at the best players at your rivals and putting in bids for them.

Greer is frustrating because he obviously has heart, yet your hearts in your mouth every time the ball goes near him incase he fucks up. but youve got to love his commitment. My youngest boy (5) is still getting over Paynter leaving so Greer has to stay. Besides, I cant spend the whole game telling him who every fucker is. glad to see the Rose signing though, one less loan mong to look at. ha ha.

He appears to be confusing a slightly balding scruffy looking white man with a black man with braided hair who used to play for us and is now found in aberdeen. Easy mistake to make.

i think the money offered for greer if around £200-250,000 is fair for him.

that said, i dont want him to go as he is a great skipper and fine centre half.

If this is the sort of money being talked about, then I think they need to get round the table with Gordon and see if he wants to extend his contract another year.

If he doesnt want to extend it then the board should consider the offer.

I think bids of 200k+ for a 29 year old defender show just how good Gordon Greer is.

According to the article in the paper our valuation is £450k.  Also in the same article it says Prutton is completing the signing today.

£450k for a 29 year old League 1 defender?

If anyone offers that we should snap their hands off.  Danny will probably be able to find a similar standard of player on a free and we walk away quids in.

I agree, 450k could buy us four or five players...

My only concern would be losing our talisman. I'm sure Wilson could replace him though, and in Lucas he has someone with captain material. Maybe.
