I have heard similar, they are definately after Williams and the rest are all decent L2 performers so it wouldnt surprise me at all. I have heard Jack Payne and Joe Wollacott also linked to them.

Not doubting your sources Venkman, but this sounds to me like the usual lazy transfer rumours that we have seen with Flynn. Link the manager with players they worked with before.

Williams is one i always suspected could be Colchester bound, he was here pretty much because of Garner in the first place right?

Colchester operated with a top 3 budget last season somehow. Always been bigger spenders in the league but have genuinely never recruited well, with lots of money going towards over the hill ex-Ipswich players. To add to the mix, they have a large and fruitful Under 23's squad too which may contribute to that budget.

Williams lives in Kent as well so a Colchester move to reunite with his favourite coach seems reasonable.

Or it's close to London

I heard it from a Colchester fan but I too suspect it is more so lazy journalism on part of the local press there.

He is a very good player I think he will be off to the Championship to continue his development, probably for £1m+. WBA very interested apparently.

They have another youngster called Samson Tovide too that is atteacting bids of £1m+.

Whenever we play them, Colchester always do tend to have 1 or 2 players from their academy that look really good. Seems like Tchamadeu and Tovide are the latest of their academy production line.

Tchamadeu is one of the most talented young players we have come up against in the last 3 years or so I would think.

The last time I remember being as impressed by a young player against us who looked that good was Kevin Davies for Chesterfield as a 18 year old back in the mid 90s who went on to play for Southampton and Bolton in the Premier League and won an England cap.

Think they have had cash for a while, just not spent it very well.

Indeed, for the last 2 or 3 years they have become trnsfixed on ex Norwich/Ipswich players who are being put out to pasture.

In the Pizza cup game against us last season they had 7 players over 34.

Will be interesting to see how Garner get's on at Colchester, I would be surprised if Williams goes there I can see him bottom end L1 team, surely if he wanted to stay in L2 he would stay here.

As for the other ex stfc players linked, no way Wollacott is leaving L1 Charlton as 1st team keeper to drop back to L2, and same for Payne, Egbo wasn't getting much game time at Charlton he maybe he would drop back to L2 to link up with Garner again

Wollacott only played 16 games, he barely played after Garner left, lost his place to Maynard-Brewer around the New Year.

Surely, most of those players linked would cost money - only Kinsella and Jephcott would be OOC.
