Hi, sorry for asking this question for what feels like the millionth time on this forum

I’m in the market for a new laptop. Budget £200 (but would prefer closer to £150), only really needed for browsing, voice recording and watching video

Does anybody have any recommendations or points to look at. Feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread (I couldn’t find it)

I think at that price you're probably going to need to look at a Chromebook type thing rather than a 'proper' laptop, unless prices have changed recently.

This sort of thing perhaps?

The main difference between this and a "normal" laptop being it runs on Chrome OS rather than Windows/Mac so you have a fairly limited range of apps.

Amazon do have some heavily discounted Windows laptops around your price, but they're random brands I've never heard of so not sure I'd be confident recommending them

Yeah, chromebooks are fine, it’s what I had before. I was using the term interchangeably 🥰

My wife's had the same HP chromebook for years now and it's still going strong. I think for what you are looking for, they represent the best value for money.

If its just for basic browsing, you tube and porn, would a big tablet not represent similarly good value?  Wink

A chromebook is basically a tablet in a laptop shell. Get a tablet with a keyboard cover.

I use my Galaxy Tab S8 with keyboard cover for most things these days. When Samsung Dex eventually allows multiple monitors I might even be able to replace my laptop completely.

Get an i5 refurb off ebay. Recently got one for £115 and it's plenty good enough for browsing.
Something likethis: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155571348696?hash=item2438c664d8:g:-FsAAOSw26Nkbikj&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4OXWj4qfJ8TOBXO6OykMk%2FPcoRqFBzYMVLC4ExG732iHDU%2FolYoP5WsumEIjwWkCo0HlrjcTE5tY4AR6FCv4oMLvPqwwJf5%2B5c03EMbiyc9auQ%2FKxt95QwdeMG%2FS9SX%2FmoIB8DpQ6ifKle%2BiNg%2FWon7FVSbh4NIyt9afpGCQf4UcHjLzfx3Y36AWc5FXWzV7V33pZf6awiH678xURA4nS3DbwDyp0HKsbRrt%2F%2FiSbz0sb6Zy09ukq6kSYT%2FyjsDMM8wlfF5khfTt8UnZQQtuLKU0B%2Brmckwqph45xXF9kJgZ%7Ctkp%3ABFBM0o7n8r9i

Thanks guys xoxo

I have a Samsung Galaxy A8 pad [2022] for sale with Keyboard cover and two tempered glass screen protectors. It's effectively as new. I haven't really used it other than to turn it on once. It's seems like it is pretty handy for travel, bit of study, writing and watching movies off watchseries  Wink

Keyboard case and protectors are brand new and unopened. I'll include postage amd a few other extras gratis, just drop me a DM if you like BD. Have sent people stuff on here before so wouldn't be running off into the sunset like Ronnie Biggs. Bobs Orange is probably someone who can definitely vouch for me in that regard

Thanks for this. Looking into these now. Is that the seller you bought from?

Currently looking at this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/hightechgb
Does 53k items sold and 100% positive feedback seem legit?

Only ask i've never really used ebay and that seems a bit too good to be true. Maybe just be me being paranoid. Guess i can always get a refund if no good.
