Watford have named Brendan Rogers as their new manager with Frank Lampard senior as football consultant.

Should I have heard of Brendan Rogers?

Chelsea reserve team manager (ex-Reading youth manager), I hadn't heard of him previously either.  Don't think he's that well known, although the Watford fans seem happy enough.

Interesting appointment! Wonder if we'll go down a similar route?

I guess it's a similar appointment to Boothroyd so i guess that's why they are happy.

That's more left field than when we appointed Malpas.

I got to admit when I read it on the BBC site, I said 'Who?'

Well this is the biggest indication that Byrne will not get the job.  "Bigging up" the quality of applicants, and therefore raising the supporters expectations, only to promote from within would be a massive foot shooting exercise.

I'm confident that in a week or two (or maybe even three) the club will be in the safe hands of an experienced footballing individual.
