Definitely ditch Khan and Aguiar I agree. I'd keep McEachran and Devoy if possible. Devoy has something about him , good technique and has a killer ball in him. McEachran has had a poor run but has performed well in the past ( and one of our better players Tuesday I thought). Cain I can't make out. He has promise but should have had more game time. Definitely need 2 recruits in that middle though. Agree on the Jan recruits too keep all if possible

I wouldn't be disappointed to see them all off. Bit harsh maybe on Cain as he's never really been given a run.

Personally I’d offload Khan. It’s been nearly 2 years as he’s shown no signs of improvement or he has the mental capacity to improve. Technically he’s ok but has no positional sense or discipline to play any role within the midfield - if he was going to acquire that footballing nous he would have by now. IMO he’s gone way past the development stage. We have the same in defence with Brewitt and the same up front with RHM. I think upfront is the only place you can get away with lacking discipline & positional sense as it’s becomes unpredictable & less costly that high up the pitch.

Aguiar would have kicked on if he was going to. Devoy doesn’t have much about him and isn’t ours. McEachran would probably look a much better player in a different team but can’t see what he really adds to us would consider keeping him but not a priority. Cain 18 months and other than being left footed and a decent free kick taker - no nothing about him. I’d probably consider keeping him and giving him a run but I wouldn’t keep both him & McEacheran….and unpopular opinion perhaps but I’d still take Ronan Darcy over all of them….

I think we’ve managed to upgrade the defence & attack in the last window - so I have a tiny bit of faith we can do the same for the midfield but all of that really hinges on getting the right type of midfielder in - which we seemingly have avoided signing for 3 seasons now for reasons…

Attack, I think so.  Defence, not long term.  McCarthy is better than anything we have but he isn't ours, so he isn't gooing to add much for next season.

I think McKirdy was a PR waste.  McGurk puzzles me - seems to have talent but can't play more than a few minutes it seems.  Drinan I don't fancy at all, but I understand the option when you have Austin in the squad.  Elbouzedi - if he was a long term signing I'd get it, but he is a loan as well.  Too rough when you have 10 other rough nuggets as well.

The entire midfield can bugger off and I wouldn't lose any sleep.  There really isn't anyone to build around there.  Devoy I can imagine bobbing between L2 clubs for a couple of seasons and then drifting away down the leagues.  Glad he is only on loan.

Overall, we will be in total rebuild mode, again.

Best of the signings we made in January are Glatzel and McGurk but I imagine they'll be moved on like Wakeling was if they continue to impress.

For the first time in a long long time, when Saturday comes I had no idea of who we were playing! Pre-season I actually fancied Donny to do quite well, they've kept faith with Grant McCann so obviously feel they'll improve next season.

Well, who would think that having a lack of talent and experience at every level of a football club would lead to this?

I'm not laying the blame on the players, but there really isn't more than one or two who are decent enough.  There are some decent players when we have time and space, but their ability under any sort of pressure is what counts, and it's lacking.  That is not a surprise - they are either fresh from Academy football or have shocking injury records that mean they haven't developed as they should have.  You can recruit a team full of those players and expect more.

You can't stick an inexperienced man in charge of that squad, without any real coaching support, and expect a team to turn up that looks like it has any sort of coherent plan.  Right now it looks exactly like it is -  an uncoached team sent out to just get numbers forward and hope for the best.

It all comes from the top though.  The result may not be the plan, but the result is because of the plan, which seems to be some degree of hoping for the best, at best.  At worst,, we can only speculate, but it is worryingly heading towards the clubs performance being the result of people in positions of influence worrying about their own goals, with no real desire for those to align with a football clubs performance on the pitch.

It's barely worth talking about why we didn't win - everything pales into insignificance against the backdrop of the shambles that is our ownership and leadership.  I mean, is Anthony Hall even alive still?  I know we don't really want to hear from him, because he is a fuckwit (in footballing and CEO sense, no idea as a person of the world), but the best it shows is that we are rudderless.  It could, of course, be much worse than that - I'm giving a huge amount of benefit of the doubt still.

- Sometimes it just doesn't hit home.
- How you can't get yourself up for a L2 game is beyond Gutting
- Simple game in L2. Do the basics well
- If you dont have good habits then you fall into bad ones
- We are starting like rubbish and keep going on like rubbish.
- Switch off and dont mark
- Second is just the basics of football
- We have a few at the minute who just want to be on the ball
- You have to do the basics well, be on the second ball and run hard
- Fans aren't happy because of where we are in the leagu. Gutting doesnt blame them
- Could have taken any of them off. None were any good in the first half
- Be on the front foot in the first half. Dont go in 2-0 down and have to chase in the second
- Its not about making 400 passes across the back. Pitches this time of year are all bobbly
- Not calling the players out. They know. Its on Gunning.
- When you stink the house like that. He gives credit to Glatzel with a good header
- Always chasing tail when you are 2-0 down. We keep working in it in the week.
- Bycroft captain was to help build his confidence. There was no hidden message.

Without naming names, there are several players in midfield and defence that just aren't good enough.  Two thirds of the team are decent.

If players like McGurk and Glatzel are actually going to be here next season (and are fit enough) then I’d just start them consistently until the end of the season to give them time to put some sort of form together for next year. Glatzel, McGurk, Drinan, UGM and Bycroft are the contracted (or with options) players in that starting XI if I’m correct?

I’m a fan of players like McKirdy, McCarthy and Elbouzedi but if they’re not going to be here next season then focus on the ones who will be.

I’m really past caring now but another nugget of drivel from Gunning - he now has to rotate players not because they’re not fit but because the pitch is sticky.

I fucking give up.

On a side note I think the Doncaster players must be made of straw, never seen so many players rolling around on the floor after a tackle.

Is now the time for the powers that be, to make a proper concerted effort to try and put a proper plan in place for next season and look to get a proper manager and coaching team in place? They can then make decisions on the players we currently have, as well as working with Jamie Russell on recruiting the players they need to implement the plan properly.

The Gunning experiment hasn't worked and it's time for steps to be taken to try and improve next season. I've no doubt, as it seems to be the way of the club these days, to make decisions way too late.

That first half yesterday was one of the worst Swindon performances I can remember. Truly woeful.

I'm still smiling at people thinking Clem&Co plan for anything past what they can see at the end of their nose. They're clueless and I have zero trust in any decisions they make, Gunning or his replacement will be on a hiding to nothing.

Oh I 100% think that Clem is incredibly incompetent and I don't for 1 second expect any joined up thinking to happen,  you'll just have to humour me!

Even a lot of the die hard Clem dick riders have suddenly gone awol on socials. Bit like towards the end of Powers reign. Still a few left though.

May as well pick a fan out of the crowd to pick the team every week. Absolutely no way we do any worse than with 'Mad Gav' the giant pillock.

Maybe we can appoint Adam Hart and he can rack up 11 big lines of his special Colombian marching powder on the physio desk before they go out. At least they'd be awake from the start and not concede early.

I liked the reasoning the taking the captains armband away from Blake Tracey - Bycroft had been low on confidence and needed a boost so he made him captain

Its not as if Bycroft is a keeper that talks or commands his area, I'm sure that really inspired his performance being captain for the day

So now its rotating the armband to someone that needs a boost - who's turn next ? lets rotate the armband - are there any rules that says your captain has to be on the pitch ?

Its just further evidence, as if we needed any, that Gunning is not fit to be the head coach.

The real question is why he stripped FBT of it. Its not hard to address that question either, you say something like FBT's performances have not been upto his normal high standard, in order to focus on his own game, we decided to pass the captains duty on to someone else in the short term. Add some courtesies about FBT's ability, with or without the armband he is a key leader to the team etc etc etc.

But nope Gunning has no brain, only decides to devalue the captaincy by suggesting it can be passed around to help people on low confidence, great idea!

Like a lot of players FBT's form has fallen off this season. I still think we would struggle to get many a better player than him, but can't help but think he will move on in the summer now. Which is a shame as if you believe him he chose to come here, above other clubs paying more money, as the club felt like a proper club with a good number of fans. We seem to have crushed his enthusiasm along with everyone else involved at the club.

Anyway get Gunning out!!!!! Who the hell is even at the games to feed this back to Clem anymore.

I'm sure Clem watches the game on ifollow - I expect he and Anthony discuss the games with their vast football knowledge and agree that Mad Gav is doing a great job but would be better next season with him own players and a smaller budget

Here’s something to ponder. Mid March. Unlikely we’re going down 🤞 certainly not going up. What would you be thinking if you’re a player whose contract is up end of June or there’s an extension for you or the club to trigger?

Throw in the added murkiness of agents allegiance to individuals attached to the clubs owners, wether by share ownership, ‘undeclared’ monies lent or declared, firm handshake agreements to be honoured even.

The club is at best in a state of flux or at worst on the verge of collapse. No one really knows outside this inner circle of smoke and mirrors.

As player x what would you be thinking? How can you apply and motivate yourself between now and the end of the season. No wonder the results and performances have been as bad as they are. Can any fan honestly see it getting any better before the season finishes?

The alternative view is that those who have the ability to leave in the summer should be working their arse of to make sure they have options - countering the ones that are trapped here and on the beach.

I previously thought that, but honestly not so sure. Notts County on good Friday is a massive 6 pointer. FGR and Grimsby both have picked up 10 points from their last 6 games. They are only 11 points behind us. FGR 1 game in hand and Grimsby 2.

We have to really hope Colchester dont turn anything on. Only 4 points from their last 6 (1 less than us), but they have 3 games in hand.

Games in hand tend to mean nothing at the bottom but still. Having lost to 2 rivals at home in Accrington and Doncaster, i have genuine relegation concerns.

We need to hope Colchester drop.

Well he has been to his house, so that is the end of it, of course.

You'd have to be privy to players contractual agreements to see that kind of detail but when the club don't want to produce a set of decent accounts, I doubt we'll be seeing player BIK's noted as ''Monthly Bonus: Contraband''


I am very shocked that Mr Hall has not followed his duties as CEO, and seemingly does not appear on Zoom using the world's smallest ball dispenser to draw the not-totally-fake-lotto.

Although if GG has borrowed it to select the team then this will make total sense
