Facking brilliant day. Could still go any of three ways depending on a) whether our seemingly brittle middle order get their act together b) whether the pitch continues to play this well or starts to crumble. Got mates coming round at half 7 tomorrow morning, can't remember being on the beers any earlier than that.

what time does play start? might get up before lunch in south africa. yeh, we ened key players like Butcher, Thorpe, Vaughan, Freddie to perform, get a total of 500+ at least to set a reasonable total, maybe take a gamble and put south africa in bat!

7.30 am start.
No gambles, after the position we were in this time yestersay lets get a draw and only go for a win if it's handed to us on a plate. First we just need to bat until tea.

If we want to win then the middle order are gonna have to start motoring, 400-4 now. Freddies played himself in, a big knock from him this afternoon could give us a sniff of victory.
Shame Strauss can't seem to kick on.

This is definately winable now especially with Flintoff and Thorpe playing pretty well!
I think we may just do this!!

Flintoff out for 60, Thorpe doing his usual steady self. Jones looks like he wants to get going. England need to start being more positive, flintoff showed signs of it but got out!
Definitely a winable situation, need to have a lead though of at least 300-350?

I think they'll probably declare at 350 or so in front. Just a feeling I've got, but if Thorpe is still in they might continue.
I don't know much about cricket, I know as much about it as Dave knows about football, but due to the unpredictability of this test so far I think they should just go for the highest score possible...

Depends on the state of the pitch.
It seems to have ironed out quite nicely, because to be fair to the lads, it was an awful batting track on Day One. Pollock- who knows the pitch better than anyone- reckons it gets worse again later- but no evidence of that yet.
I think we'll bat all day and declare overnight, and SA will probably have a go early tomorrow, and if they lose wickets early then they can just sit back and block out a draw, or if they succeed with their all guns blazing tactic, then they'll win.
We won't win IMO, I'm plumping for a draw

well we got a decent start for tomorrow, can't believe Jones dropped Gibbs that would have been brilliant.

Superb knock by Flintoff in the second innings, just what we've grown used to this year. The South Africans seem to think he scores as fast as Gilchrist with their unbelievably defensive fields, but in fact he scores little faster than the rest of our top order. Great work by Geraint Jones as well, completely demoralised the South Africans with some awesome hitting.
When Graham Thorpe came to the crease things were very much in the balance but he's given us an excellent chance here. Lets hope our bowlers take full advantage of a mentally and physically exhausted South Africa.
