Title: Deals around league 1
Post by: @mwooly63 on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 17:56:21
Franchise offering ST holders to bring a mate for a tenner v Carlisle Tuesday Oct 22nd

http://www.Franchise.com/news/article/midweek-special-for-carlisle-date-1076850.aspx#uLjJKT02lBykLZQC.99

Orients free ST offer closing this sat - over 1500 given out so far, attend over 50% of games and get another free next year

http://www.leytonorient.com/news/article/free-season-ticket-collection-week-950849.aspx

Brentford running their "pay what you can game offer" v the shrews

http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/article/shrewsbury-pay-what-you-can-1045726.aspx

I doubt whether giving an extra free seat away to ST holders at MK would fill that stadium let alone paying a tenner
and Orient only offering free STs to boost numbers so yet another olympic stadium bid will look better and try to get fans into Orient rather that wet spam when they move in.
Brentfords cash ( for tickets that are paid more than £5 for ) is divided between them and charity

Anything you would like to see town offering ?

I say fair play to any club who offers incentives. You'll find that more bums on seats means more money spent on food drink and merchandise. If the club are doing well then more kids will buy the shirts.

I'd imagine we'll be giving away tickets to school kids free for a few games.

Didn't he say he wasn't worried about the FL though

Be nice to see the bank full though even if it is screaming kids, let them catch the bug when they are young so they turn in the future generation

A bit like what Radiohead did for 'In Rainbows.' Has it been revealed what the average price paid was last time they did it?

Dont recall reading it if they did
Originally sold something like 11k tickets but game was called off due to weather - sold around 7k on the rearranged date

Crewe offering free tickets to under 11 teams

Quote
Local football teams can now see the Alex in action against Bristol City or Bradford City for free! As part of a new initiative, any F.A. registered U11 team can apply for up to 16 tickets in the family stand for these games.
These tickets will cost absolutely nothing so if you run a U11 side, help out with one, or have a child in an Under 11 side, why not bring them down to see a game at the Alex?

Read more at http://www.crewealex.net/news/article/free-tickets-for-local-teams-1091487.aspx#ySMogJF3eEEEBT4K.99

And not Lg 1 but Accrington Stanley ( who are dey ) are doing a fan friday offer on the 4th/10

£10 for a ticket IF you show a season ticket from another club when buying

Yep  :headhurts:

To be fair, Accrington's position is quite unusual...and almost unique.  Traditionally (at least since Headington United nicked their League place) a Non League club and surrounded by an array of much bigger clubs.  Blackburn, Burnley, Preston, Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, Wigan, Man United, Man City, Rochdale...all within less distance than our nearest rivals (Oxford) are to us.

In their position, I'd be offering deals like that every week.  Lancashire is massively over-represented in the Prem/Football League.  Their presence in the 92 is gravity-defying.

Cheltenham is our nearest rival by road distance...

I concede.  Just!

Point still stands though.  All those clubs within the same radius whether you choose Cheltenham or Oxford.

STFC doing something similar - discounted rather than free but still a good effort to draw in local junior football clubs and recognising these are the supporters of the future:
http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/news/article/stfclaunchprored-1058036.aspx

I know there's a few on here who are involved in kids' football (or their kids are) - if your club's not signed up, worth showing this to the manager/club chair/secretary/whatever and see if they want to get involved (contact Adam Wainwright if they do)
