It was £2.50 to get in the Townend back then😀
I remember it being actually much less than that to get in the Town End. I paid less than £1 when I first started going, in 1979. £2.50 is probably about right for the price of a ticket in the North Stand.

Where do we start with McKirdy. The guy drives me mad with his hysterics, moaning and play acting. I hate players like that and we be glad to see him gone. Coupled with the feeling that last season may have been a one off.

However even this season the truth is very few players at our level can do what he does. His ability to turn and beat someone would be difficult to replace.

If i felt confident we would reinvest and use the money wisely then i would be happy to see him move on honestly. But i'm really not sure with the business we have done, that it would be spent wisely.

That sounds about right, I used to use my dads North Stand season ticket when he wasn't at home (about half the games) and he used to pay about £45 for the seat for the 23 games back in the late 70's.

Jimmy, who are the we? Club are still in debt and other clubs will know we got the twine money so not the time to start spending when the target price goes up because they know we got it. I’d like to think that some of it has been earmarked for a player but this is Swindon Town.

Mckirdy is one of the best forwards in this leagu - entertaining on and off the pitch and loved by the younger generation of fans.   Would be very difficult to replace.

Everyone has a price though but he'd have to be paid a shit load to go to Hibs.

The chances of McKirdy signing another extension seems quite slim to me.

I guess the question would be, do we gamble on him firing us to promotion and lose him for free or cash in and hope we can replace.

That's not how I read it.   He wants him but needs to sell a couple to free up funds to sign him.

I think they are cashing in on Alex Gilbey to Lincoln which could potentially open the door ajar.

You would like to think a balance could be met some for a half decent prospect and a decent wedge to pay off debt. We also need to speculate to accumulate and not just asset stip unless of course we're in dire straits
