Only happened once for me, turned out better in the end.
Likewise, albeit it was a pain in the arse for about 5 months being on the dole and trying to claim benefits to pay my rent and live, whilst also trying to sort out statutory redundancy payment from the government!

only happened once and then my employer didn't actually have the decency to even tell me as I was on holiday
That at the very worst shit, I'm not sure that's even legal! Have you thought about redundancy insurance if it looks like it may happen in the future,
Yup! My last provider withdrew from the market just as covid was kicking off. Everyone stopped selling it. But I have had new cover since August 21. It isn't that cheap at £55 a month, but as someone who stresses its the best what I hope is a waste of money I can think of. It'll pay the mortgage and I think energy bill (as of now). A few hoops to go through to get it (and exclusion) but anyway... Likewise, albeit it was a pain in the arse for about 5 months being on the dole and trying to claim benefits to pay my rent and live, whilst also trying to sort out statutory redundancy payment from the government!
I had six months out during the banking crisis crash. It is soul destroying to want to work, to know you have something to offer but not get one - to be fair I was aiming for a particular industry/skill (software engineer) but if it came to it I'd do anything to provide for the family. But people who use the "cushy life on benefits" tag line - I doubt they've spent much time trying it* *ok there are some "careeer benefits" people.

And even then they are opting to take a very scrutinised and restricted lifestyle. They'll never be "well off" or comfortable. By the way, nice one mate. My reply mirrors pretty much what BO stated that I'm glad everyone seems to have come out ok from the situation thus far!

Cut myself shaving this morning, cannot stop the bleeding really annoying the shit out of me. Being on blood thinners an coagulating inhibitors obviously not helping matters.

No idea, at the time I was young and naive (it was the day before England beat Germany 5-1 - which was my brothers wedding day where I got royally pissed! I then flew to Sweden to see my stepbother and 9-11 happened the day before I flew back), it was all very dodgy, the company flogged a development site for a cool couple of Mills and then immediately went bust owing various people and all the staff a fortune. I had six months out during the banking crisis crash. It is soul destroying to want to work, to know you have something to offer but not get one - to be fair I was aiming for a particular industry/skill (software engineer) but if it came to it I'd do anything to provide for the family.

I was the same, quite a specialised career and all jobs were advertised in the trade journal. So whenever I went in to sign on, I was already aware of (and in many cases had already applied for) all the jobs they found for me, as I was actively seeking work probably better than they could they really didn't have a clue what to do with me. Applied for housing benefit to pay my rent in October, started my new job in January and I think the housing benefit finally came through in March, thankfully my landlord was a mate who was Ok with me paying him when I got the money - good chap!

That you can't mute the Sony Pulse 3D headphones on the Sony PS5 using the Sony controller mute button.
But you can with every other brand of headset it seems.

The energy price cap going up in October to £2,800 average. Shits.

It's only 10 times inflation, won't somebody think of the shareholders?!

You mean the pension companies investing for your retirement pot? Or the pensioners getting fuck all in interest from cash saving if they have any?

Valid thought, but the amount of pension fund investments in these energy companies isn’t as large as many seem to think it is so wouldn’t make a huge difference on that front.

Nadhim Zahawi actually used energy companies' pensions as his main defence for their massive profits on breakfast tv over the weekend.

Just adding balance. I don’t have any shares, pensions, yes, shares no.

To many people complicit in enabling mass murder.
The fucking NRA and the money it provides into politics see to it
A sizeable post of the country has protecting the second amendment more important thann protecting lives. That guns don't kill, people do. That it's better to arm teachers than make guns harder to get.
it's fucked
