Title: Rovers Complain
Post by: Sir Pissalot on Thursday, August 30, 2012, 10:37:39
Bristol Rovers have submitted a formal complaint to the Football League over the abandonment of last weekend's game at Wycombe.  Must be a cheeky attempt to get the 3 points awarded.  Tossers!

Unless has come to light since the game, the message they were giving after the match was that it was the right decision etc etc

It was the safety officer who caused the abandonment of that game, he considered it was dangerous for the spectators and asked the ref to abandon.  If it was dangerous it was the right decision! :headhurts:

What was considered dangerous? Rain, thunder and lightening? I kind of missed the reasoning.

I think it was the lightening that was the problem, had nothing to do with the fact they were losing 3-1!! :girlgiggle:

I think it was abandoned after a lightning bolt struck the stand.

Scaramoosh scaramoosh

Surely the ground had lightning conductors. Must have been some pretty fucking severe lightning for the match to be called off, or was the 'elf n safety bloke just a bit of a wooss?

Will they start the match from 0-0 again then? If rovers were to go on and lose i'd imagine there'd be uproar.

They forgot to mention the health and safety officers name was Gary Waddock, He was spotted leaving the dugout and shortly afterwards seen walking around with a hi-viz and hard hat on.

Isn't there a rule that after x number of minutes (60-70?) the result stands? Or have I made that up?

I would not go anywhere near her. Shes a health & safety risk

Needs to be abandoned too, then!

There doesn't seem to be a clear rule, but the FL normally only allow results to stand after 90 minutes have been played, so abandoned games are normally replayed. There have been exceptions such as the infamous Battle of Bramall Lane.

I thought there was such a rule.

Were Swindon not accused in the past of switching the floodlights of, citing a technical problem, to ensure they get the points. (may have changed since though)

According to FL rules
Quote
ABANDONED MATCH

An abandoned match is replayed unless the competition rules provide otherwise.

Though there have been exceptions (i.e. the FL make it up as they go along)

I can remember a farce in the Salisbury league years ago.

My team was gunning for the title and it was getting tight with our rivals with a couple of games to go.

The rival team played in a match where on 86 minutes they were 4-1 down to a mid table team. They then had tow players sent off and then started a big fight (my mate went to watch)...the match was abandoned and the gutless Salisbury league officials made them replay it...the cunts won 4-0 and we lost the title!!

I sent a letter to the League asking if it would be alright to start a fight the following season if we happened to be losing  a game...i didnt get a reply.
