Louis Reed signs a new contract at Mansfield until summer 2025
Madness. They'll have to pay him for June and July now. Much better to wait.

Cue the facebook cretins wondering if we'll get him back. Player Manager maybe?

Seems a stretch at present but I see your thinking. Although I think Ritchie is at the age where he can probably cash in on one more pay day. Bournemouth would sign him on something like a three year deal and probs match his current wages {if they stay in the PL} too. Southampton could be an option, if they are to get promoted and we're going down the ''clubs in the south that would sign him''. Meaning that a number of West London clubs might be interested too, like Fulham. Brighton might fancy getting him too - they signed Milner in the twilight of his career. I guess the main ''risk'' with Ritchie is if his knees hold out. Definitely more of a luxury signing so it would take a club who can offer him that type of deal. A club lower down might be able to but on reduced terms/wages/contract length. A middling Prem Club can probably afford to have him as an impact sub/squad rotation player. In which case, he then extends his career at the top flight. As mentioned above, think there will be plenty of suitors - other than a ''homecoming'', I feel Portsmouth will be quite a bit down the pecking order.

He’s 34. No chance he plays in the Prem again or for Southampton. He’s a Pompey fan for a start so it wouldnt be beyond the realms of possibility

I imagine if he stays in the prem it will be purely to count towards the home grown quota & to play as the over aged player in the U23s

You've taken my comment regarding Southampton a bit of out of context, as reasoning to get your reply there tbh. I did state 'if we're going down the ''clubs in the south that would sign him'' route'. Southampton ws just another. I wasn't overly serious and their caveat would be on going up. There were several other clubs mentioned too Unsure why you say he wouldn't play in the Prem again though? Bournemouth most definitely would be a front runner and would sign him. If we're doing player sentiment {lolz because that exists} then yes he would sign for Portsmouth tomorrow but I just think they are too far down the pecking order and couldn't afford him. He's got to be on about 5Ok pw shirely?

So Liverpool will sign him then #Cashback
