Just got back from watching Pete Doherty at The Cheese and Grain in Frome.
He was absolutely brilliant, so much better than I was expecting, on top form.

Haven't heard his name for ages so must have calmed his lifestyle and is keeping out of mischief.

I've got Manchester Orchestra at Union Chapel in a couple of weeks. Third time lucky (hopefully) because of previous cancellations.

Also managed to get tickets for SOFT PLAY (f.k.a. Slaves) at Electric Brixton in November.

I was at Peter Doherty's Frome gig last night too, an acoustic Libertines singalong.  Like Johnny Marr a few weeks back, it's clear to see how much he loves playing live and loves his fans too.  I'm fortunate that I've seen some absolute classics played live by these two legends in Frome recently (Panic, Time For Heroes, Getting Away With It, This Charming Man, What A Waster etc)

I don't look a day over 60 either. Then again I'm not 60. Yet.

Anyway, it's Monday so it's Echo and the Bunnymen at the Royal Albert Hall.
If ever an album lends itself to a full orchestral accompaniment then it's Ocean Rain. Beautiful.

If, like me, you’re feeling like most new mainstream music makes you feel old and decrepit, check out Pastel. Saw them at The Louisiana last night and they were fantastic. Think Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, The Smiths etc. late 80’s/early 90’s Manchester “vibes” as the kids might say.
