I am after a free download of some software which will enable me to record some speech from a mic..

Any suggestions, or is there something in windows already?

Speech will be for about 30 mins or so.... Huh?

There's something in Windows already. It's in accessories>entertainment>sound recorder. Should be fine for speech.
