Just been reading some comments on an Evening Advertiser article. Leaving aside the fact that Geoff de Ref seems to play an active role, I see that there are similar comments around which club is perceived to be 'bigger' than the other.  I am not sure why that 'trumps' the other factors that can probably be quantified objectively but there we are.

Football dosen't remember history and how big a club once was it's all about the present time and how wealthy the owners are

I can't see him dropping to that level and currently 22/1
I meant here

Anyhoo, Power has refused Salford permission to talk to Wellens. That should be an end to it - unless he decides to resign if he’s desperate for the job. And, of course, if Power is just covering his back.

Cook would be a good replacement but even the slave traders couldn't get him so can't see him wanting to come here

Time to start the rumour that Noel Hunt was the real brains behind the scenes.

Er, surely it merely means salford haven't offered the necessary cash.

Which if they really want him, they will.

Worth considering any clauses in RW contract. Not uncommon for an approach from a higher division club for a player certainly and I’d guess the manager too to trigger formal discussions if a cash threshold has been met. Not sure about a lower league club though. Unless as just mentioned the financial clause has been overcome. I doubt that neither RW or LP foresaw a club like Salford trying to entice him away, no offence intended to the class of ‘92’s tax loss vehicle 😉

Managed to halt a somewhat worrying losing streak at the weekend, you could be on to something.

So do we stick with Hunt, who knows the squad, would probably jump at the chance, but would have to work without Wellens and Wright, most likely, and not have Jewell at DOF.

Or do we take advantage of a market where more experienced out of work managers may be more willing than usual to drop to League One level, for less money, but would have to work with a squad that they haven’t built, and are unlikely to get to shape it until next summer?
