I think I've said this before, but I'm still finding it difficult to fathom why Wellens would be interested in Salford. The Man U link doesn't hide the fact it would be a step down. If it's a job he was after, he might be tempted. If it's a career, he'll stay.

Well he criticised Woolery for taking a backward career step going to Tranmere. For Wellens to go to Salford that would be very hypocritical. Clearly would factor in closer to home etc but Salford ffs a plastic engineered football club.

He would lose credibility as a manager and can't wait for Andrew Hawes to ask the question tomorrow evening if nothing happens during the day Odds now have him 1/5

Lots of things at play here.
1. Covid has clearly screwed a lot of things. Sounds like our budget was really hit by it, and i suspect Salfords hasn't. 2. Locality to home must be a big deal as well 3. Not sure winning promotion with Salford gets him much credit, with their budget they are expected to go up. 4. We do not know whats going behind the scenes at our place regarding ownership problems. If he thinks he can get Salford to a better position than us, then its a real concern.
Managers come and go. Would like him to stay, and would question his decision to go to Salford, but he's not going to be here forever. The key for us as a club is getting the next appointment correct and Power does not have a good record in that area.

Nixon speaks: Swindon. Official approach made by Salford for Richie Wellens. Turned down by the club. However clearly not the end of it. There’s a compo figure that has to be met. However Wellens is deffo first choice.
Hmm. Not looking good this.

I assume that money isn't a problem and therefore, if "Al" is right, the deal will be done.

Steve Bruce has done it all his career! More worrying on Facebook the rumour is Wellens to join Salford and ex Tranmere manager Michael Jackson will be announced the next Swindon manager during lockdown
That cannot be right, considering how crap he did at Tranmere
