Gary Neville appointed Valencia coach, with Phil as his assistant

Peter Lim ain't it!

Peter Lim, is their owner, and he's also in on the Salford project, so must love the Nevilles.

Fair play to the Nevilles, it'll be good for Gary to get some experience of Spanish football, which is way ahead of the Prem, in terms of technical ability.

Valencia though is a tough gig, insofar as like Unai Emery, you can finish 3rd regularly behind Barca and Real and still get sacked.

I can only imagine their team talks will be like a Manc version of Julio Geordio.

As Neville is apparently remaining part of the England set up can only help them as well.

Its a club with inherent background problems which has seen off managers considerably more experienced than JFH - hope he does well but think he could do a lot better if he had waited.

Even if that's true he has to offset it by the possibility that things may go pair shaped at Burton. Ask Cooper about such things!

Either way QPR should be challenging for the league/promotion. Big jump up.

QPR to appoint JFH.

I read this as JFW.

Thought she had done well for herself  Grin

Is it? Apart from the elite few teams it's dross further down the table.
We've inherited a lot of shot from leagues like theirs. Diving, cheating and petulant behaviour for instance.
Neville will last a few months, maybe will go into next season at a push.

The Premier League is vastly overrated at the moment and devoid of real quality, just look at this years performances in the Champions league. With a few exceptions such as Aguero there are very few genuinely world class players left in the Premier League. As Reg says on a technical level especially Spain are vastly superior to the Premier League, they haven't spent the last 20 years trying to turn athletes into footballers like this country has. No team in this country would even get close to Barcelona or Real Madrid over the course of a season.

Don't think anyone's denying that Barcelona or Real Madrid are way ahead of the Premiership, but how would the next tier fair? Athletico would probably do very well, but Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal? Difficult to say.

If you take away all the sky bullshit the Spanish league is of a superior quality, it just looks worst because Barca and Real have a ridiculous abundance of quality. I remember a couple of seasons ago Bilbao who were mid-table in La Liga ripped apart Man United in the Europa League which I think opened up a few people's eyes. Sevilla are Spain's 4th Champions league team this season but are only 10th in La Liga at the moment and Man City just about managed to scrape a couple of results against them. So suggests it's a lot stronger outside the top 2 or 3 than people think. Earlier in the season Celta Vigo smashed 4 past Barca which was an eye opener.
If you were doing a world XI you'd struggle to even find a place on the bench for a premier league player!

I agree with theakston, La Liga is awful and the Premier League is much better.
