Watched The Social Network which was okay, a solid one watch drama and It was nothing more than that. There's only so much watching spoiled rich kids whinge and seemingly make money from it.
Also, watched The Runaways which was pretty good. Not ground breaking but decent performances all round... Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley was an inspired piece of casting.

I've just sat, in the middle of the night, through 2 hours of fucking weepy bleak dross of Ray Winstone banging the living bejesus out of his daughter cos he's a headcase. The War Zone (I think). "Powerful and moving"... Absolute cobblers.

Went to watch the Coen Brothers remake of True Grit last night.
How the can put in the credits that they wrote the screenplay is beyond me, the thing is almost an exact copy of the John Wayne original, only not as good.

Watched 'Paul' last night, very good... even though I missed some references due to not being a sci-fi nerd.

Bladerunner is one of those films I've never made it to the end of because I always fall asleep.
Same with The Shawshank Redemption and Spaceballs. and Catch me if you can.
It's not a commentary on the quality of the films. Just that I only ever remember to watch them whilst a bit battered.
Dr. Strangelove however is definitely one of the greatest films.

Watched devil yesterday was a good film very good twist and decent enough acting.
Also watched let me in which is an american remake of the swedish film let the right one in. Still good but not as good as the original. The young girl from kick-ass gives a very good performance.

Because they did write it, and it isn't anything like an exact copy of the Hathaway version. The script is actually really quite different. Obviously they share the same plot, as they're based on the same novel, but the new one is a lot closer to it than the old one, featuring a voiceover narrative from the adult Mattie Ross like the book does. It's not a shot by shot remake by a any description, not even a scene by scene remake. I mean there's a sequel to the original film (Rooster Cogburn), and the blokes dead at the end of the new one for fucks sake!

Watched Steve Martin in Mixed Nuts which was poor... A classic case of, "We've got this major star from the 70's and 80's and we haven't got a fucking clue how to utilize their talent in the 90's". Luckily, Steve Martin survived this rocky patch unlike people Dan Aykroyd. http://www.top10films.co.uk/img/mixed-nuts.jpg Also somehow ended up watching Catherine Zeta-Jones and Justin Bertha in The Rebound. If I'm honest, I found it sort of tolerable to the point where I actually quite enjoyed it.
...In other news, I love pretty much everything by Alfred Hitchcock and the early works of Kubrick
