Just watched... The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas.

Grim but a good film...

The book is really good, liked the film too.

In the past couple of weeks I've seen Catfish (weird film, enjoyed it though. Not sure if its completely legit mind, but either way the story is good) and Four Lions, which made me laugh lots, I'd recommend that to anyone!

Some sort of falling out between LoveFilm and Universal.

Get Him to the Greek, Bruno, Green Zone and Public Enemies are among other films that never made it on or were withdrawn from LoveFilm

Dodgy download weekend in the main.

The Social Network. I would hope, although i doubt it Facebooks more interesting. Turgid in the main. 2/10

The Green Hornet. Whoever cast Seth Rogen should be shot, he's appalling. Would have been much better with literally anyone else. 3/10

Due Date. Hmm, decribed as a comedy which is pushing it, unless masturbating dogs is your cup of tea. Works better if approached before watching as a road movie with the odd funny bit 4/10

i watched Leon (Leon: the professional) last night, it was a good film but i felt uncomfortable with the relationship between Leon and matilda; i'm not sure if any of you have seen it but the relationship was very odd, one would think that between a man and a girl of 14 years old it would be more like father and daughter, but there was a very weird undertone to the relationship with matilda saying she loved Leon and wanted to lose her virginity to him (!), apparently in the original script they actually did do it, but there was so much discomfort with it that they changed the script. So all in all i enjoyed the film but would have done so a lot more had the relationship between them been different, or not had such a large role.

I hope some of you have seen it otherwise i've just wittered on for ages Smiley

It's been quite a while since I've seen it. But I think it's a stronger film for the complexity of their relationship.

In the context of a girl who's having to grow up enough to deal with issues of death, killing and revenge, it would seem a bit strange to keep her completely childlike in other ways.

Possibly.

e: also I don't think that films making you feel uneasy is particularly bad thing. Everybody accepts being scared or laughing but why dislike film because it evokes other emotions?
