Next LoveFilm is Man on the Moon - I've seen it a couple of times before but the missus hasn't seen it.

Tis one of Jim Carrey's best efforts. I'm interested in the era of stand-up comedy that Andy Kaufman was involved in. Love him or hate him, he was a pioneer of comedy.

I've not seen it for a while, but Man on the Moon is a terrific performance from Carrey.

Carrey really bugs me - obviously a talented actor (see Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshine, The Truman Show and, yes, The Cable Guy) - but makes some awful choices (see particularly The Number 23).  He should really have made more genuinely good films by now.

I maintain that The Cable Guy is a good film. Carrey was paid way too much for it though ($20 million).

Ben Stiller did a good job directing, the script is more than adequate (and it was an early work of Judd Apatow too) - it got too much press and hype but it wasn't the film the majority expected it to be. It's a good black comedy.

Cheesy I would also like to add that the man who played Jake was hot even a bit hot when he was like a blue alien creature!

Good film. Not all that much happens, but it works. He's working on a thriller/horror for next year.

I watched Taken last night. It wasn't as good as people I know made out it was imo. It was alright.

Basically the message is if you are from a rich white american family don't let your 17 year old daughter go to europe or she will get kidknapped within an hour of leaving the airport, injected with drugs and sold to a rich arab as a sex slave.

I watched 'Adventureland', last night. Hadn't heard anything about it, but it seemed to be marketed along the 'Superbad' lines. Thought it'd be decent for a cheap laugh but it really wasn't like at all. More of a late 80s fucked up love story. Decent enough, not too long.
