Just saw The Thin Red Line. A lot of potential for it to be a classic war film, but doesn't quite make it. No real strong central characters and very slow to get going.

Anyone recommend me any other war films?

Not a big action war film but Waltz With Bashir is different, thought provoking and engrossing in equal measure.
