Do you mean Episode IV (A New Hope)?

The trilogy is surely going to follow the same broad plot anyway. Film 1; good guys on top. Film 2; bad guys fight back. Film 3; epic battle, good guys win.

Oops yes I meant episode 4 new hope.

My son, aged almost 9 is desperate to see the new Star Wars film however it has been graded as a 12A.

Can anybody who has been offer any guidance on whether he would be ok to go as I really don't want to stump up £20 only to leave half way through ?

Unless he's extremely timid and sensitive I wouldn't worry.
Has he seen the other films? If not then show him them first maybe?

To be fair he is on the timid side - he has seen most of the rest of the films but doesn't like the Emperor or when Luke gets zapped with the blue shit. He is more likely to be scared of scary characters as opposed to gore.

The villain Kylo Ren was creepy and may be scary for a kid. It was his voice which I found quite creepy.

My girlfriend's two kids (6 and 9 years old) went to see it and loved it. I wouldn't say they scare easy mind.

He does take his mask off though. They make him out to be all mean and scary at the start but he isn't really at all. There is also another character which is pretty funky looking but not on the emperor level.

That's true, but it is quite a way into the film.

I edited your post slightly as we're in danger of starting to give out spoilers I think!

Thanks for your views.

I'll get him to brave it but I feel we may be leaving half way through with me telling him he needs to MTFU.

Having said that the Umpah Lumpahs scare the bejeesus out of me

I was speaking to a colleague of mine about films.

Over 100 years of cinema and her favourite film of all time is....

....Dodgeball.

Then again, her favourite TV show EVER is Celebrity Juice.

There's nothing wrong with that. Dodgeball is a very underrated film.

One of my favourite films of all time is Step Brothers.

Creed is a reasonable film. A solid 7 out of 10.

My other half likes Creed, no matter how many times I point out he doesn't actually say any words.

(Not seen the last Rocky film, do I need to see that before Creed?)
