Watched a couple of good films over the weekend.

Let The Right One In - don't normally watch vampire films but thought this was good.

American History X - this was brilliant but far removed from a feelgood film

American History X will disturb any level headed person i reckon....great film, thought provoking and stomach churning.

Which are some of the signs of a great film i reckon.

Must agree. Not sure why it isn't more widely revered.

I would argue that AMX is indeed widely revelled. It was was critically acclaimed from the start and its stock has risen significantly then. It didn't do too well at the cinema but New Line Cinema was in the early years of being a Time Warner subsidiary so probably missed out of big money advertising at the time its release. There were a lot of post-production issues which was probably costly.

AHX didn't win many big awards (Norton got an Academy Award nomination) but it was up against big hitters of the time like Saving Private Ryan, Shakespeare in Love, Life is Beautiful and The Thin Red Line.

History has been far kinder to AHX (much like Shawshank Redemption in that respect).

I watched 2 headed shark attack last night, it was alright but it wasn't as good as shark night. The best bit was Carmen Electra in a bikini

Cheesy I really have to watch this.

Went and saw Dark Knight Rises yesterday. Loved it from start to finish and it didn't feel anything close to 2 hours 45 minutes long.

Saw some absolute nonsense about nazis living in Antarctica on Sci-Fi are few weeks ago.  It appeared to take itself seriously which was even better.  Nazis at the Centre of the Earth I think it was.  All based on Mengele using body parts to 'regenerate' himself.
