Title: Play On The Pitch 2009
Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 14:23:20
It’s that time again. Play on the Pitch 2009. Is anyone taking part in this?

I have done this twice. I have retired this year  and won’t be taking part but if you are a STFC fan. This is something you really should do atleast once. Only £75.00 this year if you have a season ticket and £85.00 if not. About half of what I paid the last couple of years.

You play on the pitch for 90 mins and it’s a right laugh (especially if some pissed up fans show up to taunt you!!!)

Had Ady Williams as gaffer in 2006/07 and last year Lee P. I am sure Batch, DV, Bennett, Bushey can all vouch it’s a quality day plus you keep the kit etc and get awards/programmes etc to commemorate the day!

Did I mention my bullet header in the Stratton bank.

Don't think I am fit enough this  year (Ruddockitis) but it was well worth it last time - for me anyway.

This is my concern, don't want to be shown up by my seniors! Otherwise I've always fancied the idea of play on the pitch.

If it helps I was very unfit last year and it was 45C maybe even 50. But it was OK.

This year I am beyond very unfit! I'll be back next year.

I am thinking of throwing my hat in for the vets.

Got a few medals for my village side pissing up and down the wing (hence the flash nickname) in the Salisbury and District league.

More of a 'stumble' these days but i wouldnt mind turning out for the vets.

What sort of (old) age and UN-fitness are we talking about? I may fit into both categories.

I did score a stunner there on opening day of the season but we lost 4-2.
Stockton won it last year after last winning it in the early 70s!....looks like they might do it again this season.
I played, coached, managed and was a secretary and treasurer.
Won the Morrison,Chalke,Heseltine,Charity A and B....Lost in the final of the Kimber and Cook (twice). Had a few shit seasons and a few hammerings as well!
Happy days.....i have been to around 60 grounds following the town and i reckon if i hadnt played i would of done the lot by now.
However....playing beats watching any day.
Live in Calne now so packed it all in....but i still email the scores and scorers to the Warminster Journal etc etc.

I played on the County Ground pitch ten years ago in the Swindon and District under 14s cup final for Ferndale Rodbourne.  We lost 2-1 to Stratton.  I thought my performance on the left wing would have had the scouts scribbling notes frantically, but the phone has still not rung...

If its true (and I have my doubts now!!!) that GFM really hasnt played football for 6 years then he did a bloody good job!

Adie was spot on. He was my gaffer two years ago and it was much more organised and serious this year under him.

I know he gets his stick but he was sound last night and our reserves have done well this year. Shame he's going for non footballing reasons tbh.

Wish him the best of luck where ever he ends up

Blimey I might have played against you-I played for Tisbury Utd and Bemerton Athletic as they were then. What era are we talking about?

We are talking 1986 to about 2001.

I did play for Woolpack Wasps in the Trowbridge league for a couple of years and only played Sundays when Town were in the Prem..

Played Tisbury more times than i care to remember.

My mate Nick Gibbens played for Tisbury when they were in the Wilts league under the great Pete Sanger!

Got pissed up in the club there a few times!

If you're referring to the short pulling incident, that was quality... i watched Bennett's copy at the weekend, and it was a personal highlight.
