Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: The Artist Formerly Known as Audrey on Monday, October 26, 2020, 15:28:19 I suppose away to a non league club could bring in some TV money.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Nemo on Monday, October 26, 2020, 15:29:14 I suppose away to a non league club could bring in some TV money. If we are away to a non-league club at a low enough level, would we not be able to actually go as long as we promise to support the home side? Or did that loophole get closed? I quite fancy Maldon and Tiptree. Possibly because they sound like a stiff drink. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: The Artist Formerly Known as Audrey on Monday, October 26, 2020, 15:43:38 This Apparently.
If a side below the National League is at home their fans can go but ours can’t.. makes sense with the Corona only passing between supporters of the top 6 tiers like. So, yes. I suppose away fans could go sneaking in. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Flashheart on Monday, October 26, 2020, 16:32:20 Lower league fans can go to league games as well.
So, they can have 600 people in a small stadium where people are closer together, but not the same number of people in a larger stadium where they are spread out. Makes perfect sense. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: TheDukeOfBanbury on Monday, October 26, 2020, 17:44:23 Banbury away.
Would have to explore a few avenues to get a ticket. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Monday, October 26, 2020, 17:53:10 Never has a FA Cup draw been less eagerly awaited...
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, October 26, 2020, 17:59:39 Never has a FA Cup draw been less eagerly awaited... I agree, with our recent record in the FA Cup (any cup for that matter) the lack of crowds even if we get a good tie, our poor run recently added to that.It could be a chance for some national exposure but that could just as easily go the wrong way if the minnows beat us if we get a non league tie on BBC. I always used to look forward to these draws, not at the moment though. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Family at War on Monday, October 26, 2020, 18:39:59 Banbury away or Brackley away would be nice and close

I genuinely can't remember one that we've beaten since Marlow in about 1995. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: donkey on Monday, October 26, 2020, 19:38:32 We lose to a non league side every decade. Be good to get this one out of the way.

Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Valid Pint on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, 04:00:39 Away at Monte Darlo would have been a good excuse for a weekend in the north-east of England (then stand outside ground for the match). Do they still have their white elephant ground?
I remember 4 trips there in consecutive seasons & not scoring once! Including a missed penalty I think. We lost 0-3 there in League Cup, only to go through after 4-0 second leg win. From another thread: Please STFC put some resources & emphasis on a cup run this season. It creates extra interest in the club & will be a pipeline of future fans. Additionally how about the following incentives.... First Round Proper winners (40) £22,629 Second Round Proper winners (20) £34,000 Third Round Proper winners (32) £82,000 Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £90,000 Fifth Round Proper winners (Cool £180,000 Quarter-Final winners (4) £360,000 Semi-Final winners (2) £900,000 Semi-Final losers (2) £450,000 Final runners-up (1) £900,000 Final winners (1) £1,800,000 Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, 12:05:15 Darlo have set up a go fund me page to pay for an overnight stay for this tie.

Looking on the tinterweb they seem to have been averaging c1500 at home last season till the shit hit. Worth bearing in mind that their last few years in the league were a total shit show where the fans had fallen out of love with the club after a succession of dodgy owners and the whole ground farce. Albeit not remotely believing they would bring 1500 down to Wiltshire. I think the suggested travelling numbers (had we been allowed to) are based on last year's first round FA Cup tie at Walsall when we took 1,229 fans to watch the 2-2 draw. And as we all know Swindon is a much bigger club in much more glamorous surroundings which would have drawn in an even bigger drunken travelling army :D. On the field what you won't get from us is a dirty, kick-everything-that-moves, route-one, lump-it-in-the-air kind of non-league approach. Darlo's game is based around pace and a pass-and-move style of football. It doesn't always work but we have a better squad than last year, have a fair bit of skill in the side and won't just sit back and defend for our lives. May the best collection of plumbers, joiners, teachers and football coaches win :D Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Chunkyhair on Friday, November 6, 2020, 16:02:49 From Town home page I clicked I-Follow - See Packages - Check Availabilty - Click on "Subscribe now" and hey presto option to buy video pass for the game came up, no issues. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Darlo on Friday, November 6, 2020, 16:20:38 The main obstacle to progress since we were chucked into the Northern League was not having a ground of our own (we should never have left Feethams) and having to finance major ground improvements while trying to maintain a competitive side at our Blackwell Meadows base, even though all we have is an agreement to play there.
But it's been a blast rising up through the non-league ranks even though it's sometimes been tough against some of the bankrollers like Salford and Fylde who dwarfed our budget. At least our destiny is in the hands of the fans now and we don't wake up one morning to find the latest dodgy owner has bunged us into admin. And we've turned into quite a fundraising machine that normally hits our infrastructure and playing budget targets within no time at all. At Walsall we completely outplayed them for the first 20 minutes and their manager immediately hooked two of their players.
On paper, full-time, home advantage and the gulf between the sides should tell but you just never know. One thing's for sure, our lads will be fired up for it and we're at our best going forward. No bother standing under the tin roof with the home fans. However it’s a rough old Town, particularly when Hartlepool come to play. Was not the same the last time at the new “Reynolds” dome and unfortunately some of the faithful knew the fate of a wonderful club with tradition. Good luck for tomorrow no matter what, you are playing us at the right time now and certainly could pull off a "shock" win, if our players heads aren't in the right place with the Wellens departure then there is a high possibility of an upset. A few weeks ago then it could well have been a different matter. No offence at all but I do hope we grab a hatfull against you, we badly need it right now. Love the NE and spent many single lad weekends in Newcastle (what a party City) absolutely love it and the people. Real pity no fans as would be great to play you again. Feethams class. Stuffed, DB’s broken leg followed by being abused by Darlo fans on the way back to the car before a long journey home.PS I have never forgiven Darlington for essentially finishing Dave Bennetts league career after the horror tackle by Gary Gill in 1990. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU_fpgXeEoI&feature=emb_logo The second leg victory and grief given to Gill was one of the sweeter moments. I think he was subbed before he got sent off. Lots of years of personal Darlo-dislike will mean sod-all tomorrow in front of the radio. At least the absent Darlo fans might have the consolation of having a numbered ball in the bag for round two as I can’t see Town’s cup fortunes turning a corner unless something drastic happens to the defence.
