Waste of a contract as hes been offered a year deal apparently. Bit harsh to blame Stephens.
I only watched it in real time and it looked like he made a bit of a dogs dinner at the time, I may be harsh I cant say. Since the 2nd goal Villa have grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck. Loads of changes didnt help with the defending communication and tempo since the goal. |

I like the look of the number 17 at left wing/wingback...Brophy or Jebb? made a few good runs and a couple of crosses in the 25 mins or so hes been on.

If that's Brophy he impressed me in his 25 minutes against Everton also. Certainly didn't look out of place. |

After watching that, I am a lot more positive than I thought I would be. We played some pretty good stuff. I think if we get another 2 or 3 players then I can see us having a pretty exciting season. Oh, and sort out the defense!
Robert looks good, seems really comfortable on the ball. And the CB trialist looked decent too. Definatley plenty of positives.

Encouraging but still porous at the back. Very soft goals conceeded - how many is that now in pre-season? Not clinical up top (yet).
Need a few more in, obviously.

Overall not as bad as I was expecting TBH, I feel better about the upcoming season now than I did last week.
0-2 at home to Villa when we outplayed them certainly most of the 2nd half up till the mass substitutions ruined momentum and communication.
Good effort by most players.
Several of the new lads look handy enough, I do like the look of the trialist centre back (Diakite) and Robert especially.

Oh, and sort out the defense! I didn't see the first goal, but second half our defence looked good.....until Barry and Branco came on (and Branco didn't do much wrong). I'm more worried about the amount of chances we make and the lack of bite up front. We looked very good on the ball - stroking it around nicely, but nobody looked like scoring a goal. |
