Nope, we noticed that too! Oh well.

He still does that thing when he aimlessley plays the ball down the line without looking when he receives the ball from throw ins though

well yeah...but he's moving the ball on instead of dwelling on it.

and that only happens as no one else is moving so instead of playing a risky ball he makes sure it goes line and hopefully peacs will be there to win a header.

Id rather he dwelled on it and kept possesion than his fancy flicks that 9 times out of 10 end up in us losing possesion

dont be daft dave.why risk losing possession in midfield by dwelling on the ball. when the least you will do by helping the ball on is make the defender work. at best start a move deep in the opposition half.

Post by: Bennett on Saturday, September 1, 2007, 19:23:33
sigh....i'm really not sure that's an option. if it's on the halfway line and we lose it he'd get fucking shot for losing the ball.

he uses the ball sensibly half the time, this is an example of him playing percentage football

Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, September 1, 2007, 19:30:58
When he's on the halfway line and getting closed down on all side then yes, it is the right option.

When hes halfway inside the opposition half and totaly unmarked, then its the wrong option.

I was referreing to when he does the latter, which is very annoying, because if he worked on his passing and keeping possesion, then he'd be a real asset.

oh that. yeah he's a cock for that, but if he sees no other option and no outlet ball fuck it...to the channels it is

I like those. Just a shame noone has cottoned on that that's what he's going to do and make a fucking early run

i was exaggerating a bit in light of who the original poster was.

nevertheless, i think he did a fair bit better than simply having a "good game". i thought he was fucking impressive given some of his past performances and the stick he takes.

even the clearly audible groans when he made the odd mistake didn't phase him whatsoever, credit to him for that.

people forget that he's only 21.

yes he does make mistakes which frustrate, but then who in our team doesn't? it seems to me that he does an awful lot of good things during a game that don't get highlighted.

he certainly doesn't look out of place in our team, and as far as i'm concerned is doing well considering that he's nowhere near his peak. i was very pleased for him to get his goal yesterday to shut up the boo boys.

I thought he played better the three previous league games to be honest. He gave away alot of possesion in the second half.

He only needs to learn how to look at what's going on around him before he wins/receives the ball and he'd be immense.

That's very true, it's easy to forget because he has been on the scene for  what feels like an age.

I think Si Pie sums him up perfectly.

This is typical of people's views about Pook - they rant and rave whenever he does something wrong but not when other players do (and they make errors all the time). I like Pook, he gives loads of effort and is just as good if not better than most of our other players.

Don't get me started on Zaaboub.

Pook is like a modern day Martin Peters, ahead of his time. But only 30 seconds in his case.

Apart from his cameo against Charlton, pook has been 7/10 or better every game this season. I'm impressed.
