Yer man from the Adver has done a Athletic style deep dive into the Milan Misun transfer, which sounds quite entertaining. It's paywalled but I'm tempted to stretch to the £4 for 4 months offer they have on. (not a request for someone who does pay to copy and paste the whole thing!)

Edit: I should probably link to it https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/23997576.milan-misun-swindon-town-transfer-never/

Just the headline picture is someone* holding a Town shirt!
Which is the most proof I’ve ever seen that Misun actually existed and was ever within a 100 mile radius of Swindon

Its an interesting article which boiled down to:
- Activated a clause in his contract that annoyed Celtic (who had been good to us with Ferry and Caddis)
- Post signing concerns over state of his knee and cost to treat
- FA wouldn't sanction his registration due to 3rd party ownership

The days of signing young players of the calibre of Ferry and Caddis feels like another lifetime.

Early Clayton looked to have potential. Its a shame it went Pete Tong for him here. I think he needs a move back closer to home.

Not in the same league as the Celtic lads for me.

Think that's being a little bit kind to them isn't it. One played 150 games in the championship and the other never played above league 1

I reckon i will be safe saying Clayton will do much more than Ferry in the game

Clayton probably will but I’d say that’s likely to be down to personal attributes rather than purely on talent.

I just had a look at Simon Ferry's wiki page and I thought it was amusing that during his career at Peterhead he scored an own goal on his debut, and an own goal on his last game for the club.

Respectfully disagree.

Ferry had had injury problems as a youth before he came to us and had problems with his back after he left us but in the L1 play off season looked as good a midfielder as I've seen for us in nearly 30 years.

Ferry played in the SPL. Clayton will never reach that level.

Ferry's love of a night on the tiles is arguably a factor in holding him back too.

I have to disagree with you on that one, I think Clayton has a good career ahead of him if he can regain fitness. I know that St Johnstone and other Scots Prem clubs have been watching Clayton last season before his 2nd injury, what with his Scottish (Scouse) ancestry.

If he moves back closer to his home in the NW then he could well flourish, I sadly cant see it being with us now though. I hope I am wrong.

Yeah Clayton has the makings of being that kind of player who could go up to the championship, etc.

We're just a basket case and no longer the right environment for that kind of player.

I remember speaking to some Celtic fans whilst interailing in 2013, they absolutely loved Ferry. Way more than Caddis. Injuries and lack of focus ruined him, but they thought he had the higher ceiling of the two

Agree on all of that.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Clayton and he was a good signing (if he can get out of his “made of Weetabix” phase…) but I loved Ferry and Caddis. Such a fun time to be a Town fan.

My point was Clayton (arguably)  was a similar type of signing to Ferry and Caddis in my eyes. Captain in the Liverpool U23s

Whether he becomes as good as the other two is separate.
