Di Canio upset by Town statement

PAOLO Di Canio has claimed that comments made by Sir William Patey in a statement released by Swindon Town today are "neither an accurate nor complete version of what actually happened".

Quote
"As I stated in my last statement, I resigned on the 12th February but I agreed a temporary agreement with the new consortium which ran out on Monday at 17.00, despite them knowing the deadline there was no attempt to contact me or my representatives to extend our agreement and by not doing so they were fully aware my resignation would have to stand.

That annoys me.

Jed reckons he was unaware of such a deadline.

Somebody is telling porkies. Either that there has been a serious breakdown in communication somewhere.

If PDC is telling the truth, why did he not try to call them?

They're both gone now. Let them ramble on.

I hope the new lot ignore whatever PDC is going to try and do.

See, it is all Patey's fault Smiley

Honestly, I think its all a big shame its come to this. I'm pissed off he walked now (rather than the summer), but however we all feel about that right now PDC clearly represented our best chance of promotion.

The truth may well come out but it won't reflect well on PDC.

I think this will be looked back on as a good week for the club. Andrew Black has swallowed a loss of £10 million but left a good squad for the new owners. Di Canio has gone along with the unsustainable wage bill that he and his mates had managed to secure - along with his agent who was integral to most of the player deals. Remember Swindon paid £450K in agents fees last season ( http://www.football-league.co.uk/staticFiles/82/b7/0,,10794~178050,00.pdf ) which was not much less than the other 23 Div 2 clubs together. Only one other club, Crawley, spent more than £100K and they were over £300K behind Town.

It seems likely that the deadline was consciously allowed to pass, presumably for financial reasons.  If we couldn't afford to keep him then that's good enough for me - no point running the club into the ground for one man.

Shame it has ended like this, he did great things for our club but it's disappointing that he feels the need to say this.

We just need to move on.

Manager in spending budget shocker. Unless you are claiming conflict of interest or more.
