As pissed off as I am with STFC as a whole at the moment...

I really wish I'd gone  :(

Edinburgh, Conexywatsit, genf etc.. don't really have a choice. I do. But I couldn't be arsed. A sad state of affairs really.

I think there is a spelling mistake there - isn't it usually spelled with a 'c' and a 'u'   ?

Mc Dermott is the other. Don't like this, starting without Shakes, Roberts or Nicolau, the only ones who can beat defenders on the wings. Hope I'm wrong and it works.

You must be getting old!   :D

I couldn't go today as I'm off to uni today, so I have to pack, plus I'm totally rock bottom skint.  In addition to that, I'm buggered from a heavy one last night in Brighton.  Better bloody lose today, or I'll wish I'd have gone.

That's a pretty sweeping statement!  Why should he hate Bournemuff?

Bazza Knight's a good ref I've always thought - keeps the players under control, and doesn't flash the cards too readily.  Anyone got a link to the live commentary?!?!

At least that's a very definite 4-4-2, as I can't see Thorpe playing on the wing (although King has done stranger things....).  Surprised he has abandoned the 4-5-1 as it worked fairly well last year, and only Duke being a slow cunt let us down.  Mind you, when interviewed King couldn't even remember last year's game...

I think Jenkins is captain - I agree Smith would be a dubious choice.  What did Hadwin make of the foul?  Was it a penalty?  A sending off?

Sounded extremely harsh though.

This is from a Bournemouth fan

Quote
The FA have annouced that Barry Knight is going to be the referee. The official from Kent is officially known as 'Bournemouths most hated referee' after his diabolical decisions in matches up and down the country.

Knight officiated us on 16/9/95 when we lost 4-0 at home to Crewe. Knight reduced us to 9 men, awarded an extremely dodgy penalty, gave a free kick to Crewe despite the offside flag being up a long time in advanced, and also failed to notice a Crewe player catching the ball on the line, and throwing it in. He turned around laughing, expecting the free kick to be given - Knight bewildered everyone by awarding a goal. Many Bournemouth fans have said it's the only time they've felt a referee has purposely cheated them, and took their anger out on Knights car after the match. The referee had to be escorted out of the car park by police, as fans had waited for over an hour after the match to tell Knight what they thought of his performance. One fan didn't tell him, he showed him by kicking his car door - later being arrested.

Then boss Mel Machin wasn't shy about telling Knight what he thought. His quote being "If we were in South America, he'd have been shot before half time".

After the official spent a long time away from Dean Court, it was rumoured Dorset police said they couldn't ensure his safety. Bournemouth fans certainly never forget, as our league match away at Torquay in 2002 also had the Knightster refereeing. Knight came under some sledging from travelling supporters (including my good self biggrin.gif) with chants like 'Barry Knight is a blanker'. Knight caused controversy in that match when there was a 5 minute break in play because he wasn't satisfied a corner flag was in the ground correctly. Coincedently...we lost that match 4-0 too!

Bournemouth fans are certainly not happy about Knights appointment for the match this Saturday, and are sure to give him a right sledging.

Sounds like Knight is rectifying himself but screwing us over.

knew that was coming! Pedantic bastard what team was he playing for today...swindon therefore a swindon player...give a fuck he's gone now anyway!

no you were wrong and i was correcting you... thats not being pedantic. gurney has always been poor, the reaction when he left showed how little most fans cared about him and just because he is back, it doesn't mean we have to like him. all hes done since coming back is give a way 2penalties... thanks alot gurney, now go back to swansea.

I must be negative here and say my prediction is looking good, of 2-1.... although like chris said id love it if we won.... i cant see it, we have been struggling to score, and now we are a man down, i think this has 2-1 written all over it, so good in a way for me.... but still bad  :-))(

Anyone else see the irony here?

King loves Gurney, and yet if we don't get anything today despite playing well and scoring away from home, because we were reduced to 10 men and conceded a penalty. It may be Gurney that costs King his job.

Alex Yes read my post here. http://thetownend.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5907&start=105
(Although it's a bit long probably not worth it.)

I think he'll be sacked but I don't think it'll be a good move. At least we got a goal anyway. If this turns out to be King's last game at least we got that away goal first.

If we were to now lose today and King was then sacked I think that'd probably sum up his Swindon career quite well in a way.

i don't think we can completely blame thorpe, sounds like he worked hard and although missing a penalty is unnacceptable and as a finisher, he should be able to score from there, it has to be asked why we have to rely on a dodgy penalty to equalise. The problems still lie in midfield - there is nobody to hold and therefore the midfield often find themselves having to play deep to compensate for this. This stops them really concentrating on getting forward and supplying the strikers.

I don't. i think Carson made it quite clear that this was his last chance and unfortunately for King, the result did not come.

Yeah well from what the radio said, we were pretty good, and very unlucky.... i think play the same formation and players as today next week, see how it goes, if we still dont win.... then i dunno.... its looking like playing against people like leyton orient and barnet next year :( nothing seems to be happening how ever well we play

Gutted. Again we have lost despite being the better team, and this time we had 10 men for 70 minutes.

This is not the time for King to go. We have only lost due to a harsh red card and an awful penalty...both of which are not King's fault. If, after the Port Vale game, we still haven't won that is the time to consider a replacement.

22nd in the league, but still above City. 8)

Carson said: "but if things don't pick up then you never know"

That's not clear that he meant just one game ...

i think this would be a harsh way of letting him go. but 4 losses in a row, we had a penalty to get a draw and missed...i dunno.

ive always been a king in man, but when you look at the table and 4 straight losses, can we afford anymore? i dunno where i stand now.

i'm with you johno - i've always been a better the fuckwit you know than the fuckwit you don't sort of a man, still not sure what we would gain by sacking him now.  Sounds like we improved on last week anyway so there are some positives.  I'm not in the king out camp just yet.

i know, thats why i was saying he should really has two dates, like he raised from the dead...  :soapy tit wank:

not king out yet...but bradford lost and thats it...can't have 5 defeats on the trot, and that would probably put us bottom. be harsh to sack him on todays performance. bet i'll say that all again next week though!

Gurney's picked up 3 yellows and one red in 4 games!! We can't even fine him because we're not paying him owt.

I'm worried now.

I can't comment on todays Red for Gurney, but he earned last week's yellow right in front of me. A completely pointless, late sliding tackle when the ball had gone.

Gurney has the potential to be a good player but constantly lets himself down with stupid tackles, needless backchat to officials, and ridiculously optimistic shots which occasionly go in but more often threaten passing air traffic.

A mate who came to watch Swindon V Luton last season summed Gurney up for me with 'Ah bless him, he's a bit 'special' isn't he'.

It just goes to show that Kingy's numbers up, that he's brought him back on loan and made him captain!

I agree entirely that the signing of Gurney was a panic move by King, to be fair he's done alright but Jenkins must start ahead of him now.

First off you cant blame Gurney for the red card, he didnt deserve to go at all. It was never a red card in a million years, everyone hear was mega super duper quick to jump on his back without even seeing the damn thing not that there was much to see.

Alot of the anti ref chants were started by me and KT  8)

Thorpe hit a crap penalty, Whalley got the rebound, it was going in.....no problems 2-2 then Thorpe by either strikers instinct or greedy basatradness tapped it in, but he was offside. If he had left it, it would have gone in.
