It was a bit Cold War like. Lots days, no goals scored.
And now both sides are claiming victory!

In all honesty if I was James Constable I would be looking at fucking off from Oxford United ASAP. Some of the abuse he received today on Twitter off his own fans is nothing short of disgraceful.

Ross Allen at Guernsey?
Nope, that's not him. It'll come to me eventually. He was/is 27 or 28 and is seriously prolific.

Not quite.
Serious question. Its great when a player shows loyalty. But what do you make of the fact the board/manager were willing to sell? In all honesty if I was James Constable I would be looking at fucking off from Oxford United ASAP. I'm sure he's big enough to realise when fans think you are jumping ship to you biggest rival you will get abuse. Oxford saying "following talks with the player...talk to Swindon" did not help the situation either. As above, I'd be more worried about why he isn't wanted any more.

They're now stuck with a want-away player
Do want-away players turn down moves? He'd have gone to Bournemouth if he wanted out.

The threats from his own fans made him walk away from the deal.
There's nothing more to it.

Agreed. And the club seems keen to offload him.

funny day we have managed to pee off the yellow bellies and we still did not end up with a player that most of us did not want in the first place well done PDC. I guess Cuntstable sees himself as a League Two player for the next few seasons and has found his level I find it so funny that pox fans now think he is some god when they are missing the bigger picture, their board were willing to sell the top scorer and fan idol to their hated rival for just a poxy 175k

Looking forward to Constable Thursday number 3 now. I have a feeling we may switch our attention to Leven next week. Or the tea lady. Or anyone really.

The board aren't in a position to turn down big offers. It was supposedly £200k-£300k, which would have been decent value from our point of view. I've got complete trust in our chairman, he's turned this club around and knows his football and business. Coupled with the fact that the manager is well aware of Constable's shortcomings, its still a possibility that he will be sold and replaced before the window closes - it now being quite obvious what we're willing to let him go for.

I don't think he wants away but your board seem pretty keen to sell. Seems strange really. Either you're desperate for money or your manager doesn't want Constable anymore. I'm taking a punt on the former.

I actually feel a bit sorry for him. We make an offer, the scummers accept, and he is left to decide which end of the A420 will hate him for ever. (not exactly a tricky decision, I know....)
Can't blame him in the circumstances. I think there's a lot of relief in Swindon as well as Oxford.
