I certainly enjoyed last night more than last Monday but I think Riddick got it spot on earlier in the thread:
agreed. Dodgy defence, little creativity, a lack of goal beyond potentially Smith and no real experience in any position on the park
I will reserve judgement of course however as it stands Cooper will have a job on his hands and no chance of improving on last seasons finish - the right additions changes that of course.
I thought Lelan was surprisingly good on the ball, Turnball was also comfortable playing it out which is no doubt why he is being looked at. The defence was all over the place positionally at times.
Stephens and an experienced centre half should sort us at the back. Will we get an experienced one, and by that I even mean someone who has had more than a season of regular league football, I am not too sure. But I don't think Power is a mug and he will know what is needed.
If we are going to play 3-5-2 and can get Brad Smith or an equivalent left wing back, I would shove Byrne to the right and cash in on Thompson who unfortunately does not fit the system. If we can get six figures for him to spend elsewhere that would be good business for me.
The midfield is well documented and as has been said it is probably a decent attack minded player away from being complete. We were never really going to replace Pritchard with similar quality but I think Cooper alluded post match we need something different.
Smith and Williams, meh, completely starved of any service really so judgement will be reserved. Williams is going to get some stick this season from the fans, rightly or wrongly.
Leeds were average and I can see why their fans (superb as usual last night) are not too confident for next season. They will stay up comfortably I am sure but I would be surprised if they compete at the top end of the table.
