But even more legendary than Kamara was of course the one and only Alan Mac.

I think I'd have Alan Mac and Kammy just about even in the 'legendary' stakes, all subjective of course.
Certainly not legendary but a player I liked and thought was under rated... Danny Rose...

My mates and I always referred to him as Stumpy Barnard. Rose like a salmon between two Ipswich defenders at Portman Road in what I think was a 3-2 defeat. Mid 80’s I recall, took the ex down for a long weekend and shopping and the in Ipswich.

Ah, Leigh Barnyard. Not one of my favourites, that’s for sure.

Leigh Barnard was certainly a crowd favourite, with the boo boy element that is.
Over 250 games, great servant of the club in my eyes. Played nearly every game in the 86/87 season, not so much once we reached the 2nd tier.

Leigh K Barnard, or Chunky the Monkey as the other players used to call him, a real nasty person who I never got on with when I worked at the club, he gave everything but was severly lacking quality.

Unfortunately Stigger was often pissed while with us, before, during and after games, he had some demons. One day under Ossie he turned up pissed for a game and Ossie instantly sent him home, he was blatantly staggering and obviously drunk, he got into his car and was about to drive home when my mate, a fellow head steward at the time, managed to take his keys off him and we ordered him a taxi to get home safely. That was near the end of his time with us. Such a shame he couldnt stay sober or he would have been an incredible talent, rather than a good player.

I remember "Bring The Noise" was fiercely critical of "Stumpy"

Agreed he was a decent hard midfielder who could have played at a higher level if it wasn't for his problems away from football.

I've got a full set of "Bring The Noise" somewhere. Will have to dig them out. A good read at the time.
