He's for real. Confidence and knowing the tricks the mind can play (normally through the power of persuasion) can do many things.
When I worked at GWR a whole room of PC's got pinched in the middle of the day. Some guys turned up in a van dressed as maintenance people, walked straight through reception (looking confident in where they wanted to go) and walked back out with the PC's, people just assumed they were taking them for maintenance reasons!
The simplest thing to compare his ability is the old annoying thing of saying things to put people off counting. It's easy to count but all it takes is someone to say random number for a few seconds and sods law says you'll lose where you are. The mind can be so easily influenced.

saw his show the other night where he turned a load of atheists/sceptics into believers in God just by touch.

If you ever get a chance to go and see his show, do it! He is a genius...well worth the money. Still cant quite come to terms with it all, the control he had over the people he used is terrifying.

He's a bit dead good ain't he.
We figured out bits of how he got money from the losing ticket at the dogs, or bits of it anyway.
Both times dog #4 won. When he went to the counter he said "This is the dog you're looking for (four, 4)"
The second time he said "That's why we came to this window (win dough)".
No doubt it's not quite as simple as that though, I'd likely get nicked if I try it.
Yeah I know it's an old thread, but he's a new discovery to me.

And his stage name is Derren He should have chosen Errol Brown for his stage name! He could have had the slogan, "I believe in miracles" That's genius.
