Arriba does have a point. They're generally a bit dull. Won't stop me watching though as anything is better than essay writing! I thought about getting a ticket for the Ireland game seeing as I'm so close, then I saw the price.

I went to the pre "France 98" game at Wembley to see England v Saudi Arabia............ 0-0 I also saw a friendly in 91 or 92 v France when Papin was playing. Not a bad game, we won 2-0 Goals from G Lineker and A Shearer.

Went to England vs Slovenia (or Vakia, buggered if I remember which) at Wembley last April with my girlfriend. All very impressive, but a friendly feels more artificial than even a normal England match does to me.

I've only gone to two England friendlies in the past. One back in '98 - a 3-0 win over Portugal. The other was the 3-1 win over Hungary at Old Trafford four years ago.
I always watch them on TV - what can I say, I support England.

The French call them Preparation Matches, rather than Friendlies, which I think describes them much better and gets across why they are important. Not that Egypt or Ireland have anything to prepare for...
