Title: Wednesday game off?
Post by: Anonymous on Monday, December 27, 2004, 22:40:05
Rumour on the Sheffield street due to some Sheff United game v Villa game that the Swindon match could be called off? This likely to be true sad if it was due to crowd fears or would it be not enough coppers?

Becuase they are both at home.
Bristol Rovers always play away when City are at home.
Police will decide I suppose.

No club ever wans games to be called off, and surely the police would have extra planning to o if they were to move the date of the fixture.  Calling off a game is always a last resort, i doubt it'll be called off.

Still leaves 4 sets of fans in Sheffield around 2.30 though!

It wouldn't surprise me if our game got moved to Friday or Sunday but whether it does remains to be seen.

If any game gets moved I would have thought it would be the Sheff Utd V Villa match seeing as it is a Cup game. Our game was announced way back in July when the fixtures were generated.
Personaly I don't see the need to change the dates, the local plod have moved the Sheff Utd game forward so they police both games and although its two home games in the same City its not exactly Rangers/Celtic is it! Not aware of any rivalry between Villa/Swindon/Sheffield but I await to be corrected!
