Title: 2nd Installment - Season Tickets
Post by: STFC4LIFE on Thursday, November 13, 2008, 14:57:13
Just wondering, how many haven't or aren't planning on paying the second installment of their season ticket?
My old man just told me he wont be re-newing his, and that shocked me, and he's seen some shit in his time.
Is it really that bad?

I signed up for the direct debit and the fuckers took it a month early.

I'd have paid it anyway but the principle is a bit of a pain.

I've renewed mine.

Doesn't matter how fucking bad it is (And it's not that bad) if I only wanted to see a winning team, I wouldn't have started supporting Swindon in the first place.

I can understand new people, who took advantage of the price, not paying the 2nd installment, but people who have followed Swindon for years?

If it's due to finances fine, if it's because we're not winning games fuck off then, you fickle fuckers.

It's not actually optional. People signed up to pay for a s/t just in two installments, not to buy half then decide whether or not to pay for a second half

Technically we have until the yeovil game. Herthab mine is a bit of both and the fact i cant be assed to go to the ground to update it

Correct, but for those who paid in cash the first time round, I doubt the club will go to the effort of pursuing them for the money- it would be unpopular and cost more than it gains I suspect.

In practice yes, but in principal it's not supposed to be optional. Oh and DRS the deadline was Oct 1st, not the Yeovil game, it's just you keep your seat until then, so technically you don't have till then you're overdue. If they start selling half season tickets and you haven't paid the 2nd half, you run the risk of losing your seat

I've heard AF is changing the spread payment idea a little next year.  The season ticket prices will be going up but you can spread your payment over 23 matches, any you only actually pay for games you attend.   Sounds like a winner.

Don't mention it, i would imagine the people who had money taken out 4 weeks earlier than they should of would not take that option next year anyway.

I feel for Andrew Fitton.  The feel good momentum from the season ticket deal - which, let's not forget, was the best deal we've had in years - has been lost.

He has clearly wanted to sort out the club off the field first, and then on the field second...in that order.  But much as we love the fact that Diamandis has gone and that the back office is being run professionally, it doesn't set the pulses racing the same way as a winning team.  I think he'll need to address the manager/coaching staff issue sooner than he had wanted to.

I paid no attention to that part of my purchase. I didn't even know that we owe payment for the second installment, i just assume because i still have some tickets, everything is good.

Sorry but I don't understand: 'the results aren't right or I don't like MM, so I won't pay for the 2nd payment' bollocks. I paid for my season ticket on the basis I would attend every match (that's what a season ticket means).

The 2 part arrangement was only there to accommodate the scenario of how many season ticket holders we eventually end up with, not optional on the basis of whether we're happy with the results.

unless we are in a relegation battle then our season is over.i dont blame people for not paying the second installment.
the big sales push pre season, and play off talk from management and players has fizzled away into the reality of mid table at very best, with the fans at the players and vice versa.
it really has been dismal so far, and malpas is about as popular as ian huntley.
fitton has to think forward.even if we finish mid table with malpas still in charge, loads of this seasons ticket holders wont bother next season.
this is a season wasted now whatever happens.all fitton and us can hope is for some optimism to whet the appetite again.
i've concluded that malpas needs to be sacked pronto,in an attempt to try to keep this seasons ticket holders.

Either way people wont be happy if we sell any of our players, nor will then be happy if/when we end up with Byrne and/or Williams in charge again

I meant season tickets. Whilst it probably isn't a massive financial impact, the fiuture ST sales in next season could be taken into account.

That said, if they chose to keep Malpas, despite sustained poor performance, we won't get renewals anyway, especially if we do have to sell one or two players.

Oh fuck, that sounds really bleak.

How many season ticket holders did we lose under Kingy?

I expect they went up in the 04/05 season after the play offs the season before but then went down when we finished mid table and sold Parkin.

Has anyone got any stats about season ticket sales?

To me I think (hope) that the only people who will stop going are the johnny armchairfan who have only started going this season because it was cheap.

I'd like to think we've got a hardcore fanbase of a couple of thousand that always have been and always will be there.

Fitton knows what hes doing so I expect he's been realistic when budgeting future season ticket sales.

Title: Re: 2nd Installment - Season Tickets
Post by: RobertT on Thursday, November 13, 2008, 19:03:36
I don't think it ever drops below 2000 and normally not above 3500 at most.

Non renewals will lead to a sale, that's for sure, because the seasons budget will be carved up if the income doesn't come as guaranteed.

Mine was paid on the due date.  It's my first ever season ticket and I've seen worse, so it's cheaper for my shit watching than in previous years, which allows more pre match beer expenditure.

Fitton knows what hes doing so I expect he's been realistic when budgeting future season ticket sales.

But we've got 5300 or so season ticket holders and our hardcore fanbase can only be about the same. We've enjoyed decent attendances this year, despite some awful football. I can only imagine this is down to season ticket sales.

Like Rob says, it's guaranteed income which will suffer. A player sale will be inevitable. Fitton cannot budget for underperformance, save perhaps the added cost of a mangerial change. I would imagine his realistic budget would actually be three - a best, worst and average case scenario. My point is if we get the worst case scenario we will have to find the money elsewhere. I suspect the worst case scenario means budget cuts elsewhere and/or other income streams such as player sales.

I don't think it's good to compare budgeting in previous years, because it was non existent.

I can understand new people, who took advantage of the price, not paying the 2nd installment, but people who have followed Swindon for years?
